2 disappointing stars, SPOILERS in the second part of the review
I am a huge fan of the Off-campus series by Elle Kennedy and I gave all those stories 5 stars, with the exception of the last one, but it was still 4,5 stars for me :) so when I heard that we will get a spin-off / sequel-ish series set at the same university I was thrilled :) especially since we met both Summer and Fitzy in that original series and I wanted to see how the romance between them will go… so trust me… no one is more disappointed that me that this was only a 2 stars story for me… I had several issues with this book, but explaining all of them will include talking spoilers, so I will have the next part of my review totally spoiler free when I will be a bit more vague but will still try to communicate my feelings, and then the last part will be filled with spoilers and concrete reasons why I ended up with only 2 stars for this rating…The main reason why I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I wanted and hoped I would, was actually the main couple… and I mean both of them individually as characters and the romance between them… I found Summer annoying and just a little bit too much and Fitzy was a jerk… I definitely didn’t see them together, and not because I have something against opposites attract theme… I’ve read some really great books with couples like that :) nope, the problem here is that there’s no build up to them becoming closer… they basically don’t have any interactions in the first half of the story… it’s more like he wants her but thinks she’s too much and don’t want the drama… she wants him and is a bit confused with his mixed signals… they don’t really talk about anything or spend any meaningful time together and then bam! they are together… ugh… not to mention that there is the matter of them being roommates and her sort of going out with another one of their roommates and I just… *throws hands in the air and sighs heavily* I just couldn’t with both of them...that’s all I can say while I stop myself from spoiling you stuff, so now I will jump into all my more detailed thoughts… fair warning, they will be in a totally random order, because even though it’s been days since I finished it, I just can’t seem to gather them in any sort of logical way :) ok, ready? :).......All my spoilery thoughts about this book:......#1 Summer was all over the place… and I get that some part of it was because she has ADHD, but it was tiring to read… she met Fitzy about a year before and he caught her eye immediately, but acted like he’s not that interested in her… yet she kept hanging on that infatuation… at the beginning of the book during a New Years Eve party she overhears him talk about how he thinks she’s fluff and shallow and stuff like that… so she kisses Hunter at midnight...and even though she heard all those hurtful words, she’s still crushing on him…#2 Fitzy is a jerk… yeah… that one was a surprise for me, cause I didn’t got those vibes before… but how else can you explain his behaviour? he’s attracted to her but decides that she’s too much drama so he won’t make a move… and yet he keeps hanging around and acting like a douchebag towards her…#3 there are basically no interactions between them throughout the first 50-60% of the story… #NoJoke… there are a handful of short conversations, usually during a party or some other gathering with friends, but almost none when they actually talk… that made it very hard to get on board with the romance between them… I could understood the attraction, but nothing else… and then we get this very surprising scene… so like, after almost zero getting to know each other, ad her overhearing him talking stupid stuff about her, during one of the games he gets injured and Summer sneaks into the locker room to check up on him… and them gives him a bj… I mean… what? huh? just… why??? right after that, his teammates come back to the room, so she sneaks before they can see her and they don’t talk about it… to make matters even worse, he basically disappears on her for like two days after that… and yet she’s still hung up on him!!! I mean, come on!!!#4 the whole Hunter situation… he’s interested in Summer, especially after their midnight kiss… and like a good friend, he talks with Fitzy and declares his intentions, asking him if he has a problem with it… and Fitzy being a stubborn idiot of course deny any attraction… and yet he’s pissed when Hunter flirts with Summer… don’t even get me started how he reacts when Hunter takes her out on a date… which is after the bj I mentioned earlier… I think... he barges into her room a few minutes before she’s going out saying she should stay… but giving her no reasons whatsoever for that… ugh… and Summer is no better… she decides to pursue things with Hunter even though she’s still very much hung up on Fitzy… which is so unfair to him… because during said date Hunter of course sees that something is not right… it doesn’t take him a long time to figure out what’s going on… he drops her off back home soon after and drives away and it doesn’t take her more than a few minutes to go to Fitzy’s room and sleep with him… at which point I was like “Hunter, you deserve soooo much better”#5 there was an iffy situation going on with one of Summer’s professors… but it was.. I wasn’t the biggest fan of how it was handled… it felt like a lot of slow build up to a big and what felt like a rushed ending… I can’t quite put my finger on the specifics, but I didn’t like it...#6 again, the whole romance between Fitzy and Summer… I don’t get it… there was no real build up, it’s like at some point they just decided to give into the attraction and become sort of a couple but not exactly… it was more like Summer finally convinced him to give them a chance, but he never really changed the way he acts around her… closer to the end they sort of have a talk about why he acts the way he does, but again… I didn’t really see any change in him… and because they didn’t really talk, I can’t seem to get behind of them being together…Honestly, if it wasn’t for the fact that we meet characters who will get their own stories further in the series, and I didn’t want to miss scenes with them, I would DNF this book… but I had to persevere because of Brenna :) she’s the heroine of the second story and my favourite part about this novel… not to mention that I am looking forward to book #3 which is gonna be published next month, to see who will Hunter end up with ;)

The Chase
Get ready for a slow burn!!Was it my favorite book that I’ve read from Elle Kennedy, no, but I still enjoyed it. I just don’t think that I connected with the characters as much as I have in other books.I could not picture Fitz as anyone but the guy who plays Fitz on Agents of Shield. Which if you’ve ever watched that, he looks completely different than what is described in the book. Nothing wrong authentic either, I just couldn’t change the image in my head.I’m really looking forward to the rest of the series because I loved the Off Campus series so much! I love how those characters show up randomly in this spin off series.

Summer & Fitzy Fall in Love!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️Let me straight off by saying that when I read the Off- Campus series and Colin Fitzgerald was introduced… 😚Summer met Fitz before at a few parties, but has never paid her any attention. Little does she know that he has always been attracted to her but he always runs the other way. He knows she is the type that thrives on drama and he hates drama. He also stays away from her because he is friends with her brother, even though her brother graduated and moved to New York.Fitz… IMA NEED YOU TO THROW ME OVER YOUR SHOULDER SIR 🔥Oh yeah, and you can bet that Elle Kennedy definitely left me jonesing for the next book in the Briar U series, The Risk!

Colin Fitzgerald throw me over your shoulder ✨❤️
Let me straight off by saying that when I read the Off- Campus series and Colin Fitzgerald was introduced… I was so interested to know how his story would be out in future books. To answer my questions, Summer waltzed right in and I knew I was going to love the story that unfolded between them 😉.With this being the first in the Briar U series ( spin off from Off- Campus) I really loved Summer’s carefree attitude and sassy remarks that make everyone else shut up immediately haha. Not to mention when Summer met Breanna, I knew immediately that these two ladies were going to be best friends, and become the epitome of creating trouble 😈 ( in a good way 😉). While reading, it broke my heart a bit when Summer revealed the struggles she’s gone through and the fact that people have judged her based on her outer appearance made me fume! Summer definitely had a lot more depth to her than most people would have thought based on false judgments they passed on her. Summer is an amazing, strong female character and it made me glad that Breanna was an equally strong woman who supported Summer ( while also being brutally honest with her).On a side note, I discovered my love for a trope in this book, the one where “he throws you over his shoulder” 😆 Ummm excuse me ☝🏻 Fitz… IMA NEED YOU TO THROW ME OVER YOUR SHOULDER SIR 🔥 Even though Summer didn’t like when Fitz did that to her, I’m convinced homegirl was enjoying the view… if you know what I mean 😏Part of me just wanted to scream at both Fitz and Summer and yell, “OH MY GOD! JUST TALK IT OUT AND GET TOGETHER ALREADY” that was my inner frustration in the beginning of the book due to the misunderstanding that happened from New Years Eve, to each Fitz and Summer thinking that one is not interested in the other ( misunderstanding because they’ve totally were crushing on each other from the beginning!) Another thing I loved about Summer and Fitz’s relationship was how they would push each other’s buttons, or how they went from 1 to 100 within a short span during a conversation haha those two definitely made me smile. In addition, the love that these two characters had made me blushing ( at specific moments 😏), or laughing from funny situations happening to them ( you’ll know once you read the book 👍🏻)I was really intrigued with Fitz’s character personality because, compared to the other guys, he was more quiet and reserved. Even though Fitz has been one to make an effort to be social with his friends and what not, I found it endearing learning about his interests with video gaming, art. Before reading this book, I had a feeling I was going to love Fitz and I can 100% say with certainty that I’d love to be with him. Shoot Can he draw me like one of his French girls?! 😆 ( if you know, you know lol). On another note, I truly loved Fitz coming out of his shell. In the beginning. Fitz was use to remaining in the background, keeping to myself ( kinda similar to John Tucker, which was why they got along famously) , but with Summer, she brought out this side of Fitz that even took him by surprise. Definitely loved seeing our Fitz embrace a new side to himself, a side that mean stepping out of the shadows and into the sunlight with Summer 💕

Entretenido
Si has leído los libros de Elle Kennedy, leer The Chase es obligatorio. No es tan genial como The Deal, pero en definitiva es un libro entretenido, para pasar un muy buen rato.

Welcome to the 2nd Generation 🤍💋🏒
Right after I finished "The Legacy", I immediately went on Amazon and bought the Briar U Series. As I learned about Summer and saw she gets her own story, I needed to read it! And also the new generation at Briar U had my heart the second they were introduced.I adored Summer and Fitzy and couldn’t wait to read their story. They made me swoon, had me smiling, and had me rooting for them throughout the book. My heart was aching for them and I desperately wanted them together.Summer Di Laurentis is new to Briar U – she was forced to leave her former Ivy League college due to difficulties. After being rejected at the Kappa Beta Nu sorority – despite her desire to start brand new, she soon discovers that her reputation has followed her to Briar U. Summer is familiar with Briar’s campus and Dean’s former hockey teammates – Especially Colin Fitzgerald.Colin Fitzgerald – or Fitzy, is not your typical jock. Yes, he is a mean hockey player – Tall, built, tattooed and gorgeous, but he is also considered a gaming nerd. Fitzy’s major is Fine Arts and Computer Gaming – when he is not practicing or playing, it takes up most of his time and energy.Even though both their characters are the opposite – Summer being feisty, extroverted and you never knew what comes out of her mouth whenever she spoke. Summer was absolutely hilarious and loved her sociable nature. Fitzy is more of an introverted, who prefers to stay out of the limelight and keep things to himself – I relate to him so much and I think that’s why I love him. I loved how Fitzy was the best boyfriend for her – even though he may be quiet but honestly, I think she needed someone that wasn’t as extroverted as she is.I loved discovering the depth of both characters and watching them grow – it made them for me more relatable characters and the development of these two felt so real.

This Off-Campus follow up is a great start to the new series.
Briar U is the follow-up series to the Off-Campus series by Elle Kennedy and starts with The Chase. While our Off-Campus hockey hotties have left Briar U, it left behind some loveable players who still hadn't found their one. We get this series that gives us more from Briar U to finish off their stories. It has all the same good qualities Off-Campus had and we even get pop-ins from those boys. The Chase was fun, emotional, steamy, and just an all-around good read. I think we all saw Summer and Fitz's story coming and Elle did a fantastic job with it. These two are opposite in a lot of ways, while she is happy to shine bright and be seen, he likes to stay in the background and be quiet. When they look beyond that though it isn't long before they start to see their similarities and realize just how good they compliment each other. If you were a fan of the Off-Campus series you will no doubt love Briar U too.Fitz and Summer were the perfect start to the series....Since meeting Fitzy when she visited her brother Summer has been attracted. What's not to like in her own words, 'Fitzy is short for Colin Fitzgerald, and he just happens to be THE UNICORN. But no matter how much she flirts with the man he's made no sign he's interested back. But it's New Year's Eve and she's decided she'll leave no doubt about how she feels when she kisses him at midnight.Fitzy has been denying his attraction to Summer Di Laurents since she showed up to see her brother last year, but it's getting harder and harder. He wants her but she's his friend's little sister and the total opposite of him. Really he just thinks she is out of his league. Garrett notices Fitzy's attraction though and encourages him to go for it despite all the reasons Colin gives him why he shouldn't Garrett sees right through it, but when midnight rolls around he spots Summer kissing his teammate Hunter. When school starts back up things get more complicated, after Summer had to change schools she's now attending Briar U and since her housing fell through Dean called in a favor to the boys and now she's housemates with the guy she kissed on New Year's Eve and the guy she had wanted to kiss but who hurt her when he said all the reasons he didn't want her. Honestly, she just wanted to leave after she heard what Colin told Garrett, but when Hunter caught her leaving and kissed her it was a self-confidence boost she needed. People might not realize by looking at her but she has an inner critic who is hard on her and is insecure and filled with self-doubt.Fitzy tries to forget about wanting to kiss Summer on New Year's Eve, she's moving in now and they can't get things any more complicated than they already are. Hunter has told them that he's interested which is just one more reason for him to let it go. With her in the house and in his space she is impossible to ignore and he can't deny the chemistry that sizzles between them, but Summer always finds a way to put herself out there and Colin wants nothing more than to stay in the shadows. After dealing with his parents and their toxic divorce it left a sour taste in his mouth and he'd rather stay silent than voice an opinion that can be used against him.The mixed signals are too much for Summer. While Fitzy leaves her confused about how he feels Hunter is making his feelings known she has no idea what to do with either of them. Between boy troubles, school trouble, and a professor who seems a little too friendly Summer is starting to feel the weight of it all. A date with Hunter at least lets her see her real feelings and though it hurts him she knows what the right thing to do finally is.Finally giving in to what he wants from Summer causes plenty of drama in the house and on the team, but none of it will hold him back because now he's got Summer in his bed and in his heart he has no plan to let her go. The rest will sort itself out. They both have the future to look forward to and they hope to do it together. Colin might get his dream job to top it all off but a night out attending a charity event so he can mingle with a man he's admired who will possibly be his boss will cause them some waves. Then to top it all off Dean will find out he's dating his little sister and he'll have to deal with the consequences.None of it will matter though because he's not letting Summer go.Happy Reading.

Sweet enough but not up to Elle Kennedy's usual standards
Dean Di Lauretis' little sister Summer has been kicked out of Brown for burning down her sorority and her father has pulled some strings to get her into Briar University. Unfortunately for Summer her sorority sisters refuse to let her join at Briar, citing her bad behaviour, so she is suddenly homeless just before term starts.Dean arranges for her to take his room at the townhouse he used to share with Hollis, Hunter and Fitzy which is great, if Summer hadn't been dissed by Fitzy and retaliated by kissing Hunter at a New Years' Eve party - awkward!Colin Fitzpatrick has spent most of his childhood and all of his adult life as a pawn in his parents' acrimonious divorce, he daren't tell anyone how he actually feels for fear it will be used as a weapon in a divorce battle that has never truly ended.Summer may be the daughter of two successful lawyers and obscenely wealthy by anyone's standards but that doesn't mean she's had it easy. A form of ADHD means she finds studying difficult and writing essays a herculean feat, when the rest of your family are hot-shot lawyers it can be devastating when you are failing a fashion course for the written work. Self-esteem issues aside, Summer is Colin's opposite: outspoken where he is reserved, gregarious where he is a loner, fashion to his jock. Yet neither of them can deny their attraction.I liked this, but I didn't love it. It was funny and sweet and sexy, yet I'll be honest, three hours after reading the book I couldn't remember the heroine's name.
