Bit slow in the beginning
I had really tough time to complete this as it didn't get much storyline in the beginning...I got irritated most of the time with the slow burn and lots of unnecessary details but somewhere in the midway it got better. It was a good read but not that much entertaining.

Best in the Briar U series
Briar U series>>>> Offcampus seriesThe amount of times I've read this book is insane. Both Jake and Brenna are my literal favourite. My favourite part is how they were so vocal about their attraction. Just read it, it's so good.

Hands down the best book in the series!
The Risk is the second book in the Briar U series and it's about Briar's coach Jensen's daughter Brenna Jensen and the captain of the rival Harvard hockey team- Jake Connelly. When I saw this book had an enemies to lovers and fake dating trope, I immediately picked it up and I don't regret it. I read Summer and Fitzy's book but they didn't appeal to me as much as the other off campus couples did. But Jake & Brenna lived up to my expectations.“I don’t believe that. And I don’t appreciate you interfering in my life.”“I don’t appreciate you interfering with my players,” I retort. So, Brenna is kind of seeing a player from Harvard's hockey team and Jake believes that it caused his teammate to lose focus from his game because apparently Brenna was a "distraction". Which is why he demands them to stop seeing eachother but immediately feels bad after it. Jenna waned to secure an internship as a sports journalist but her interviewer turned out to be more interested in Jake Connelly than hiring her which lead her to pretend that Jake was her boyfriend to make an impression and secure her dreams.“Say thank you to your sugar mama, Jakey.”“Thank you.” I flash an overly lascivious grin. “Daddy loves it when you take care of him.”Brenna sighs. “I hate you.” “Nah, you don’t hate me.”Brenna was such a breath of fresh air. She was strong, confident, sassy, mature, determined and knew exactly what she wanted. I loved how she didn't let anyone boss her around and could control her temper whenever it was necessary and how she calmly handled the misogynistic encounters with her interviewer. Her past was heartbreaking and I'm so glad that she finally got over with it by her dad's and mostly Jake's support.“Enjoy the rest of your night, Jakey.” She gives me a wink. “And don’t forget… If you mess with me, I mess right back.”Jake was genuinely a good and funny guy and I immediately took a liking to him from the moment him and Brenna had their first encounter. It seemed like whenever they were in a room together, the whole atmosphere changed. I could literally feel the tension coming off from the pages lol! I really liked his spirit about his college life and being independent. He was clear about his attraction towards Brenna and always made it clear to her. I loved how he didn't hold back even if he knew they would have to face the consequences of being together out in open. (But at some point he had a lapse of judgement and I'm not gonna lie- I hated his bestfriend Hazel fot that.) Nevertheless, I loved him as much as I loved Brenna. He was so understanding, calm and patient and respected Brenna's choices."The girl is a smoke show. And I love hearing her laugh. Every time she does, the musical tone makes my heart beat faster."Brenna & Jake were perfect together. Their banters were so entertaining and the interactions with the side characters like Brookes, Nate, Summer, Fitzy, Hunter, Hollis & Rupy were so funny and engaging. Never even once, I got bored because there simply wasn't a dull moment in the book. The forbidden romance added a thrill and steam to the story. Sometimes, Jake pushed her buttons but Brenna got the perfect boyfriend that she deserved."I’m officially his groupie. But that’s okay, because he’s my groupie. We root for each other. We’re good for each other. And I can’t wait to find out what the future holds for us."Also, the way Elle Kennedy wrote about the game between Harvard & Briar U was so intense. It kept me on the edge of my seat and with every score, I found myself eager to read further and see who finally won. The topic of female sports journalists was also approached seriously in the book and I'm still thinking about it.Overall, the chemistry between Jake & Brenna was undeniable and they're my favourite couple in the series. I can't help but want more of Hollis & Rupi they were just so adorable together! You should really pick this book up, I bet you'll regret it.

Jake Connelly is the new Garret Graham!
Never have I thought that another of Elle’s written men could come and make me fall in love with him as much as Garret did, but here we are. Don’t get me wrong, I ADORE all of the Off-Campus and Briar U boys, Dean especially, but none of them dethroned Garret in my heart. And here comes Jake Connelly and joins Garret on the best-book-boyfriend position.Jake is the perfect mixture of all the previous Off-Campus men. He probably resembles Garret the most with his talent, confidence and cockiness, but has Dean’s self-assurance and a tad of selfishness, Logan’s loyalty and Tucker’s unruffledness. But he also comes with a fire in him, a kind of fire that I haven’t noticed in the other men so it was only natural that he had to be paired up with a female heroine who would know how to respond to and challenge that fire. So it’s not a surprise that Brenna was the one to steal his heart.Brenna, such a force to be reckoned with. She has all of the beautiful traits of the other Elle heroines, she’s kind, honest, loyal, strong, independent, confident, but also cocky which was not so much the case with the previous girls. She has a fire in her that matches Jake’s own and they are literally two peas in a pod in every aspect. They are both unapologetic about who they are and what they want and they don’t shy away from voicing their thoughts and desires.I just adored watching their relationship grow and just like with Hannah and Garret I have zero doubts they’re gonna spend the rest of their lives together because they are literally made, designed for each other. Don’t get me wrong. I fell in love with and believed in all the other Off-Campus and Briar U couples, but it was only H and G that made me feel they were soulmates at a 100% and the same thing happened now with B and J.Can’t wait to dive into Hunter’s story next!Shout out to Hollis and Rupi! They were such an amazing comic relief. I was laughing out loud with all of their scenes. They are so perfect for each other LOL!
