Swingline Paper Trimmer/Cutter, Guillotine, 12" Cut Length, 15 Sheet Capacity, ClassicCut Ingento CL500m (1132)

This arrived with the same damage everyone else notes: the protective doohickey had already come off, and there's seemingly no way to get it back on. But I'm still giving this thing 5 stars because as far as I can tell, that's just an aesthetic, quasi-safety thing (and I don't care about looks and I'm not letting any toddlers next to this thing anyway). AND THIS CUTTER WORKS. I was so sick of looking for a good paper cutter. This performs like the one at my kid's school, which I was seriously considering stealing. Except smaller, and lighter weight. The wood rule at top does not have a gap, so you can shove a piece of paper up to it and trust it to give you a firm straight edge to work with. I can SEE the cutting edge, unlike cutters with "helpful" plastic guards (not helpful). And the carved guidelines are good, especially helpful for keeping a long edge straight. I appreciate the grid format. The blade itself is solid and sharp and makes straight cuts. The only thing I've had trouble with so far was when I had to shave tiny bits off -- it struggles then, not quite cutting it all off the way I want, or at least not consistently (third photo). But, with the great visibility and good guidelines, it's pretty rare I've needed to make a correction like that anyway. The cuts I need to make require precision, and this delivers by giving me quality cuts with great visibility. Woohoo!

Love it!! Absolutely just what I wanted. Solid, sturdy and will last for years. Good to have products that are still well-made and good quality.

This is a great paper cutter! I love it!

Poorly constructed compared to my 18" Ingento. 'Feet' merely screwed into the top (cf Dovetailed on 18"). My 12" came with a twist to the top that required me to shave off one corner of one 'foot' in order to make it a firm footing with no rocking motion.I cannot recommend that anybody buy this size unit . It was not cheap either, for the price paid one should expect some quality control

I love this Swingline paper cutter. The hard wood construction and self-sharpening blade were some of the features that sold me on this. I have purchased cheaper paper cutters of various designs over the years, and I have been disappointed by each one. The Swingline does not, however, disappoint. It cleaves a clean, sharp cut through paper and cardstock alike. The guard, a solid metal bar near the cutting edge, does sometimes make a perfectly straight cut on a longer piece of paper challenging. I intend to remove this, as I don't live in a home with small children, and the guard is held in place by a simple Philip's head screw. In its place, I plan to make a heavy wooden block lined in felt or craft foam to protect the paper, as I use the cutter to trim out heat transfer designs and printed prop boxes and labels. I have made good use of this cutter even without this alteration, as it is well constructed and includes both a built in ruler and a quad pattern grid to help with precise placements for each cut. This is a quality paper cutter, and well worth the price.
