Well designed,sturdy product. Just make sure it's secured into wall studs, or to a metal plate that's secured to wall studs. If I have any criticism, it would be that the clip that holds it in the stored position is kind of light duty. This could make the bar swing down unexpectedly with little effort.

When we first got the bar it seemed way too large. But now that it’s in it is perfect! It seems good and strong which is good because my husband needs that! It has a nice color and texture.

Across the tub to make stepping in safer and give some stability while sitting on the tub chair. The mounting plate is 5.5 x 11.5 inches. Quite large, photo doesn't show. I used screw anchor into very thick masonry tile wall and found a stud on the other side. Anti slip grip is embossed on the metal. This will stay always down position but very satisfied with this product.

We attach this to the wall in my mom's assisted living facility. A huge shower with only three sides to it and this works great, gives her something to hang on to

Clear instructions for proper installation, sturdy but nicely finished metal helps it blend into bathroom.

The product is very sturdy and well built. However, I highly recommend getting the one with a supporting leg from the same manufacturer! Luckily my husband has some skills and managed an installation by adding plywood behind the toilet. He then cut holes through the back of my closet to add extra bracing. Even with that, it still creaks if you use the front to push up.Just get the one with the leg support and you take a lot of the pressure off the mounting. I'd still add the extra board.

This is a good looking and well designed folding grab bar. As others have mentioned, the width of the base does not match the wall stud width. There’s no way I would feel this is safe without reinforcing the wall. My contractor opened up the drywall to build blocking . I now feel it can safely support weight. And so nice to fold it up when not in use.

We had these at our old house and just bought them to install here. To be safe they must be installed properly. The installers opened the wall from the back side. They put two 2" X 12" boards sandwiched together in the space between the studs. Then they inserted the bolts that hold the base plate of these in from the back, ie through the two thicknesses of 2 X 12s. We are larger people. We never had any give to any of these we used. Expensive, but worth it, and they work better than the plain fixed ones.

The bar feels very very solid, looks good and nicely folds out of the way when not needed. Looked like it did exactly what I wanted, but I had to return it because I could not install it in the way it requires to meet the safety specs. To install there are 6 large 4" long 1/4" wide hex woods screws that need to be secured into solid wood -- cannot use drywall anchors or even Moen Securemount anchors. Especially since the bar is freestanding and the user might apply all their body weight down on the bar when standing. The two rows of screws are further apart than the width of my wall stud, so I couldn't install all 6 screws into a stud, only 3 of them. So this items requires special structure (e.g., wood reinforcement behind the drywall) to meet the safety specs. Do some research online on installation before buying to make sure this works for you.

I bought this bar and all my other hardware from amazon for my bathroom reno. I looked at the local big box hardwars store and it either wasn't available or priced higher. With amazon, everything is delivered to my door.
