Anyone who has even the slightest interest in ancient Chinese history will find at least part of this book enjoyable. Reasons for as much include dedicated research, engaging prose, and a commitment to ensuring all readers can access this work. This one is not to be missed!

Coverage of the earliest period does (of necessity through lack of records?) encompass rather a lot of conjecture and assumptions.There's certainly a good coverage of the period - but it can become rather dry as it cycles through successive rulers.There's limited information about how the average person lived during the time covered.Tended to skim past extended descriptions of fairy tales of ancient beliefs and convictions.The book occasionally reverts to mentions of much later personalities (such as Freud) and comparing them to characters of ancient China!

I love these books as they are always informative, educational and interesting! Provides the right amount of facts/tidbits - not too little, not too much.

I enjoyed reading this book. I love history, especially ancient history and being able to learn more about such an ancient culture was amazing
