I think I'm in love
Great great great tool for writing. I feel so much more productive because I've got the written form plus the digital form at the touch of a few buttons. This has already increased my productivity. Plusi can tag things, creating themes as I go along. Like breadcrumbs. No, It's not perfect at transcription, but it's good enough to save plenty of time. I'd say it's above 85% accuracy with my handwriting. And another drawback, though not a dealbreaker, is that the pen is a bit thick and may not work for hands on the small side or those with a weaker grip. It's only week 3 or 4, but I think this is leading directly to a book.

Versatile, high quality, great functions.
Does much more than I expected, made a great gift and I plan to buy one to keep too. Best way to get your handwritten notes and drawings into digital form, best price, and works in real time which is fun to watch. No syncing or updating hassles like some other systems. Would be nice if actual stores with Moleskin displays like Barnes and Noble carried the notebooks.

Moleskin is a solid writing system when you need an instant digital copy of handwritten notes.
I didn’t love it at first, but I was hopeful I could re-train my method of taking notes. I take a lot of notes and I prefer notebooks to loose leaf paper. The problem is, you can’t scan a notebook well and it takes too long. I needed digital backups of my case notes, in the event I needed to share them. Moleskin helps me digitize my notes, quickly and efficiently, so I automatically have a backup of critical case notes. I like that the notes are in my own handwriting, too, rather than typed out, because it would have more credibility in court, especially when I have the paper notebook as well. Therefore, I don’t use the conversion feature. The pen is a little thicker than I would prefer, but it’s comfortable for it’s size. My one complaint is that the pen does not know which notebook you’re writing in. You have to keep only the one you are writing in active and hide the other notebooks, in the app. If you have too many, it can be quite a learning curve to remember to activate and deactivate each notebook as needed. It’s still a plus to be able to have multiple case notebooks in the app, though. I gave the price for the money three stars only because I think the notebooks are a little pricey, running about $15 each. You try not to waste any pages, which is probably a good thing, after all.

Really nice set
So far, I really like it. Initially, I had plans for this massive multimedia journal project, but after consideration realized I was making this more complicated than I really needed to (which never happens 🤣) and I should just focus on getting in the habit of journaling again. This system is nice in that it supports that, but also enables me to do more things with my journal in the event I ever decide to go crazy with it.The pen is really comfortable to use and takes normal pen refills. The best part of the journal is that the spine is not stiff, which is nice for us left-handed people who have trouble with normal book spines. What it does is electronically capture whatever you're writing, enable you to do some editing in its app (highlight, delete, draw over), and then save it in a variety of formats and share it out or automatically save in your Google Drive as a pdf. If you have the app open, you can see changes in real time, but if you don't, it'll sync the next time you open it. By magic, it knows what page you're on in the book which is really cool. It also records sound while you're writing. It comes with a little test book so you can practice.

Good Idea. Horrible Execution.
I use a bullet journal for everyday life and wanted to find a way to keep all my thoughts on paper and in the cloud. I was surprised and excited when I saw this Smart Writing set and thought it would be the end of my problems. WRONG!Moleskine dropped the ball on this one. The pen gave out on me after a month of use. I lost a lot of notes, the pen no longer wants to connect, and when it does it's only for a few seconds. I have to reinstall the app, readd the pen and keep trying which is a complete waste of time. Not to mention, they're supposedly working on an update for the app too. I'd be surprised if it worked right. I'll find a new notebook company and I'll continue to scan my notes in manually. I really had high hopes for this pen set.

Don’t like the pen.
I’m a pen and notebook-holic. I love them and have many in my keep. The concept was really cool, but the design just didn’t work for me. I typically love Moleskin notebooks and was excited to purchase this item. Unfortunately, that excitement was short lived. I don’t like the way the pen feels or writes. The rectangular shape of the pen is not very comfortable to use and pen-tip is too chunky for my taste. I’m sure it’s a great product, it just doesn’t meet my expectations as a pen addict. The notebook works great, but I’m just not in love with the pen itself.

Moleskin and the Ellipse Pen are a smash hit in my book
I am so please with this product that I have recommended it to everyone I know. Most people ask me what is that when they look at the pen. This then leads to a long discussion of how it works and what I use it for. I am in the field all the time and sometimes I don't have access to power so this device allows me to write and when I get back to the office I can sync the notes electronically to the app which gives me a great backup. I would buy again anytime

Good idea, horrible execution
This product is absolutely not ready for prime time. I was so excited to try this out. Having hand written notes is great for my job, but it's been a hassle to transcribe them to share. I thought this would be the answer. It wasn't even remotely usable. Returned after a week. Don't waste your money on this thing yet. Great idea, just doesn't work.
