Good price, works with Philips Hue, Setup can be awkward
I bought this dimmer switch and bulb to expand my Hue lighting system. The bulb is recognized by Hue with no problems. The remote however is more complicated. You have to follow an undocumented process to first join the switch to your Hue network. Then you have to use touch link to pair it with individual bulbs. For some reason the process of joining it to the network is difficult - I had to attempt several times to get it to work.I found this out by emailing the company. Their support was very friendly and helpful, and ultimately got me sorted out. I'm planning on adding more of these remotes and bulbs to my Hue.Here's the process to get the remote to join a Hue network and then connect it with bulbs:1. hold down two middle buttons (dimmer up and dimmer down) until the green light flashes once (this resets the remote)2. In the Philips app on your phone, add a new Hue Dimmer Switch. Chose 'add a new switch' and choose yes when it asks if the green light is flashing on the remote (it won't be, just ignore that).3. Take the remote near your Hue bridge and hold down the off button (the O) until the green light flashes 3 times. If instead you see 3 red flashes, the remote has failed to join the network. Go back to step 1 and try again. I had to do this several times before I got 3 green flashes on the remote.4. You can verify that the remote is on your Hue network because now every time you press a button on the remote the green light will flash once (even though the remote is not paired with any bulbs). Note that the remote WILL NOT appear in the Hue app.5. Now use touch link to pair the remote with one or more bulbs. To do this, hold the remote touching the bulb and press the on button (I) until the bulb flashes a few times. Philips bulbs flash three times and then another time after a delay. Eria bulbs flash three times and then dim twice. I suspect this will vary greatly between manufacturers. Just be patient and hold the remote next to the bulb with that on button held down.6. Repeat step 5 with as many bulbs as you want to control the remote with. Note that again you will see nothing in the Hue app about this remote. It basically operates independently on the Zigbee network to talk with just the bulbs you've touch link paired with it. A nice side effect of this is you don't have to just add bulbs in the same room (as defined in the Hue app). You can add any bulbs on your network. The only downside is that the remote operates on all touch link connected bulbs together - you can't use the remote to turn on or off just one bulb if you've paired it with multiple bulbs.NOTE 1: you can touch link bind bulbs to this remote without first joining the remote to the Hue network. However if you do this, you will find that the bulbs become locked to the remote - Hue will report them as unreachable and you can no longer control them via Hue. If you accidentally get a bulb in this state, you have to reset it and re-join it to your Hue network. One way to do this is to use a different remote that supports reseting devices via touch link. I used the RGBGenie remote to do this. I suspect you could also remove the bulb from the Hue app and search for it again.NOTE 2: Philips bulbs will only do touch link for the first 30 seconds after power is applied to them.So bottom line is that this remote does work with Hue, but it's kind of awkward to configure. Also note that the remote holder plate is really designed to be screwed in to an outlet box and replace an existing switch. Unlike the Hue dimmer switch holder, it does not fit flat against a wall if it's not in an outlet box. This means that if you just use double sided tape to stick the holder on the wall, it will look a little weird.I've asked Eria support to add these instructions to their website, hopefully they will do this soon. There's literally no info anywhere on the web about how this works.

Works with Smartthings As of Oct 2021
Let me clear something up first: the “No hub required” means that if you don’t connect these devices to a smart home hub (NOT a voice assistant like Alexa, a smart home hub), they can still work with each other… but that’s it. They’re not Bluetooth, which is how Sengled “no hub” bulbs connect to Alexa. You can control these with Alexa if you pair them with a smart home hub that Alexa can talk to. You also don’t have to use the switch & bulb together if you use them with a hub. I control a different light with the remote but I still used the included bulb in a different room.I just bought an older house with odd light switch placements (the kitchen light switch is in the dining room… wha??) so I wanted to use these to put a switch in a more expected & reasonable place. I just double-side taped it to the wall and BOOM, problem solved. While it is true with the way Smartthings works you have to assign the dimmer buttons a static value (like 25% and 75% for example) instead of using them like a traditional gradual press-and-hold dimmer, I am still overall so pleased I came back to get another one for the bathroom light switch that’s inexplicably across the room from the door. I’m also glad whoever wired this house is probably retired now.

Worth it for the remote.
The bulbs are merely OK. Not terrible, but not great. They were a bit tempermental to get into pairing mode for home assistant, and i have noticed they occasionally turn on for no apparent reason(though recent thunderstorms may be to blame). The 4 button remotes were also finicky to pair, (hold middle two buttons to reset, then hold off button while near another active zigbee repeater), but once paired, showed up with all for buttons to attach actions in home assistant. A 4 button remote and an Ok bulb for less than most single button switches makes it a compelling option if you are looking on adding some smart devices and need controls. I never used the standalone mode, so cant comment on it.

Using with SmartThings
Like many, I've been looking for a replacement to the Lutron Connect Bulb Remote. I have several of these from when I used Wink and they just don't work with SmartThings. These devices were great because they were simple, they fit nicely inside a decora switch, and they look nice. I have Lutron Caseta switches and it was nice to have a remote switch of the same brand. This remote/switch fits well in a decora switch. It is a little bulkier behind the plate. It caused my 2-gang plate to not be entirely flush. The setup with SmartThings wasn't too bad. There are 2 steps. First, reset the device. Second, connect the device to the hub. I had to go through this sequence about 6 times before it took. Once the device was connected to the hub it didn't work exactly as expected. The button symbols imply the remote is intended to be on/off and a dimmer (up/down). However, the way SmartThings uses this remote...it allows you to assign either a scene or automation to each button. This works well for the on/off part. I don't see a way to apply a dimming function - up or down. Instead, I had to apply a preset dimming value for each of the two middle buttons.Top button - 100%2nd button - 75%3rd button - 25%Botton button - OffI'm using the remote to control a group of lights. I don't think it would be any different for a single light. Overall, I can make it work. I will keep the device.UPDATE 1/20/2021Apparently this switch is no longer compatible with SmartThings. Since the switch is already programmed from the ST classic app, it works. However, I'm not able to update the buttons. I bought this switch to replace my Lutron connected bulb remotes when I moved off of Wink and they were no longer supported....now the same thing with this switch. I guess the industry feels there is no real need for a decora light switch. I'm not buying another hub just to control this one switch. Went from 4 stars to 2.
