Nice bit of wood but do your checks before fitting
Hmm tough one this, the mantle arrived as described but note the smaller sizes in mm in the description as it’s not a true 6x4. Mine arrived soaking wet and I mean absolutely dripping inside it’s packaging. Left it in the house to dry out for a few weeks and my moisture meter was still reading 30+% moisture content so I’m guessing this wasn’t cut from a seasoned piece of oak. During the weeks before fitting this oak beam has developed quite a few drying cracks some of which are quite deep. I bit the bullet and fitted a few days ago so time will tell how it fairs above the fire and what will happen when it really drys out.

Quality mantle but tricky installation
Good but tricky to install as you need to drill new holes in the mantle to line them up to the studs.Hardware could be better if it was a plate v individual prongs to hang the mantle.

Just what we wanted
When we moved here a month ago the previous owner took the the oak beam from over the fireplace with him😡 so we ordered this one and it’s much better than the original and looks great 😊

Beautiful Oak Beam.
Beautiful oak beam mantel, sets the room off wonderfully, was a little surprised at how fast this was received, est delivery 23 May! Was delivered and in the wall by 17th May. Excellent work all round.

Very good when it arrived but 2 months on
Very good when it arrived but 2 months on, has now split along the length and is so warped, nothing will stand on it. It can't be blamed on heat as no fire has been installed yet.

Absolutely love it, it’s very tricky to install as it’s so heavy, and the fixings have to be 100% and are fiddly.But once it’s up it’s worth the hard work.

Looks Great!!
Very pleased with this item. I expected it to be difficult to install but proved surprisingly easy. I made a paper template marking the holes in the beam and all was well. Has been installed for some time now and looks great!
