Mendota Pet Snap Leash - British-Style Braided Dog Lead, Made in The USA - White, 1/2 in x 4 ft - for Large Breeds

I bought this leash in red with black accents about two years ago. I’ve used it every day and like it a lot. Now I purchased a turquoise harness for my dog and so I bought another leash in turquoise to match it when we go for walks in the park. The leash is sturdy but lightweight. The material doesn’t get dirty so my original leash looks brand new. I don’t feel the need for any padding in the handle, because my dog is small. If you have a big dog who pulls a lot you might want some padding, but otherwise I highly recommend this leash.

I love all the color choices offered but if you're looking for something durable and long-lasting, this may not be the best choice for you. We've had it for a little over a week now and it's starting to show signs of wear. However, for the price, I didn't expect it to last forever.

I was unsure that I would receive a leash with a brass clasp - the wording on the description made it sound like they used brass as well as other materials and there was no option to insure you'd get brass. But it came with brass and I'm very pleased with it overall. The brass resists corrosion and we often go to the beach where salt water can corrode leash material.

I have several leashes made by Mendota, both with a slip lead and with a clip, and in 4’ and 6’ lengths. I really like the high quality, the way they look and the soft feel. I’ve continued to stick with this brand over many years. Great product.

Nice leash but it doesn’t have the tension that others do. My dog gets a little extra pull from the stretch. It’s my back-up.

Overall, the leash is soft, light weight, and seems very well made. My only "negative" is the brass clasp is so well made, it's a bit larger and heavier than expected. The material is a bit different from the mendota slip lead material (this is much thicker and bulkier). Also, not as soft and seems it needs some time to break in. I'm very happy with the leash aside from the clasp and how bulky this material seems to be compared to other Mendota leashes although, that might benefit some people, it's not what I was looking for.*Update - leash is fine but I purchased a 3/8 inch snap leash that has a smaller buckle and softer rope much like the slip leads as I expected.

This leash was disappointing. The brass hardware is clearly very good quality (although quite small). Because the leash is basically a round rope it was actually difficult to use. It was difficult to grip and kept slipping through my hand. If your dog has already learned to walk nicely this may not be a problem. However, if you need to do corrections with your dog it is difficult to use. Also, my dog accidentally got a hold of her leash and chewed it almost completely through in under a minute. So basically, if you have a completely trained dog that never chews this leash might work for you. It didn't for me at all. The colour of the leash wasn't exactly what I was expecting either. The "Red" leash is a very pink/salmon/orange kind of red, not a true red.
