Great light for the money.
I am an everyday bike commuter. I commute 14-15 miles per day through urban development, and have been looking for a good deal for a while. I was using a 3w Black Diamond headlamp, which puts out plenty of light to see with, but HID car headlights were drowning me out by a far cry.PROS:First off, this thing is BRIGHT. I have no way to measure lumen output, but this light will fry your retinas on the lowest setting, where it easily outshines car halogen headlamps. I can now compete with those ridiculous unregulated car HIDs that are so prevalent. In fact, the other day a newer Mercedes flashed his brights at me. That means I'm being noticed!The light has a very wide beam, which enables me full view of everything in front of me, as well as what is coming ahead. Battery life is rated at 2hrs on full power, but I have yet to test that because it is too bright. 50% brightness definitely lasts at least that long.The illuminated button on the rear of the unit changes colors in conjucntion with battery life, and is easy to interperet.Construction is quality and attachment/detachment is simple and quick.CONS:This thing gets hot if it does not have air flowing over it. It will bump down to a lower setting to avoid overheating, but I worry about when the summer rolls around and temps stay high through the night.There is no blinking function! It is only solid beam, with 4 brightness settings. I.e., this light is nearly useless during the day and is mainly suited for night riding.---Overall, I would recommend this if:1) You can get for under MSRP2) You need something to see and be seen in low light3) Don't require a flasher/blinking functionPaired with the MagicShine 3w tail light, I feel much more secure on the roads at night.

Worst light from Magicshine
Worst light I have ever bought. It overheated from moment one and it eventually stopped working in a couple of months. This shouldnt happen in such a expensive light

Early Christmas
I gave this to my son as an early Christmas present. He and his friends were very impressed. I did a lot of comparisons and, for the money, this is the best. You can also get other lenses, and batteries.

A Good Light
The MagicShine MJ-872 is a good bicycle light at the price, and appears to be quite well made. I like the LED technology better than HID.

Good light, battery not that great.
Good light with good wide beam. Battery is the weak part though. I'm lucky to get 1.5 hours on a medium setting.
