Works nice with a vintage computer. If there are additional signals on this connector it can be used to separate them. Very nice !

I also wish I had read the other reviews. You cannot map pin one. You must de solder the jumper and add a single pin header in order to use it. In my application, I have to re-map *every* pin, including pin 1.

I have 2 complaints. The first one is minor and it's that you cannot remove the nuts on the female end. This sort of thing is for testing, not permanent installations. Those attachment points get in the way more often than they help, and that's exactly what I'm running into here. I have to stack a gender changer on top of it to get it plugged into my equipment.The second complaint is somewhere between minor and major and is the reason it lost a star. There's no way to control pin 1. It's going to patch through to pin 1 on the other side no matter what you do and that's it. So as long as that's not an issue for you, this thing will work.

I should have read one of the other comments. My mistake. I sat down to wire this thing to convert a standard RS-232 into a Roland R-Bus cable and the first thing I notice is that it starts with pin number 2. Pin 1 just goes straight through. Wasted money, should have read the comments. But I'm disappointed there was no mention of this in the product description. Also want to mention that the sockets are crammed into one corner of the opening and it may be troublesome wiring the male side of the adapter.
