It’s a great guide to find over night RV parking at Walmarts. 4,000 stores and about 1,000 do NOT alone overnight. The guide informs which sat “no overnight” parking.

I have used this book a lot since I got it. A great resource for traveling. I am going cross country in my motorhome and plan on boondocking at Walmarts on my way. I have mapped out my course. The book has address, how far from the highway, phone numbers to verify that you can stay there, etc.

Do not expect this to replace your atlas. This book gives you a generic map of the state with major freeways. A city only appears on the map if it has a Wal-Mart. In the spreadsheet it tells you if the store is open 24 hours, allows overnight parking, has a fuel station and if it’s within 10 miles of the freeway. Our previous version (from 2003) was an extensive atlas, but did not specifically map the stores. At the back of the book it simply had a list of each store within a state. Although it’ll still work for our purposes (a family RV trip out west) we were hoping for a combination of what the old one provided and this one- this the 5 stars.

So glad to find this book. Stayed overnight at many around the county (before this virus hit) and helped me locate acceptable store locations for overnight or just shopping needs. If not then looked for truck stops online or other directories where you can always stay but bright parking lot lights can make those difficult. Walmart has many shady area of section where light are turned off so try them first usually. This virus has changed a lot of store hours and rules so may not be welcoming anyone overnight for awhile. Check with store using this directory for that and hours.I usually look for a Walmart or locate from the directory and see first if it shows overnight is OK. Then go there and inspect the lot for semi’s and other campers overjoyed if I see a lot of each and park near them (my version of time share - of a parking space) and I call it staying “at the Plaza” as if it were a motel I am at. Some people don’t get what I am saying or joking about....especially real timeshare sales people!

Great book to have so you know ahead of time if you are able to park for the night.

I used this book to find a Walmart store in Casper, Wyoming that would allow overnight parking for RV's. Two were listed tor that city. I opted to verify that information with a Walmart employee at the store I visited. I was told that, although technically, the store did not allow free overnight parking, no one would bother me if I stayed toward the rear of the lot. That turned out to be true.

The Walmart locator was hugely helpful on our recent camping trip from Maryland through New York, Michigan, Ontario, Minnesota, Wisconsin and back home. We like/love Walmart because of the consistent product lines and broad range of items that we need as we travel in our RV. We were away about 3 1/2 weeks and shopped at Walmart every few days to restock. I just wish the book included the Canadian provinces. Luckily I had looked those locations up before we left on the trip.

It is helpful to know in which cities WalMarts are located. Phone numbers, addresses, and directions from Interstate and other highways are helpful. The information on which stores allow camping in their parking lots is outdated. In some cases cities pass laws prohibiting such camping for the benefit of their own RV Campgrounds. In some cases the stores simply do not answer the phone no matter how many times you try.
