A "build with the parents" type toy
Given as a gift to an age-appropriate little boy, however, the mother ended up building the T-Rex for her younger son. She said she thought her oldest son (the one I purchased it for) would have had trouble building it. She said it took her a few hours, and it's definitely NOT a play-toy once built. It's a bit fragile (the head likes to pop off) so the child may carry it around but it won't stay "built". Once built, it's a cool toy -- just more of a model to look at than a toy. Now, the older boy has shown an interest in building the Triceratops... Definitely a "do together" project.

Great STEM toy for younger kids!
My son first got Blocos for Christmas last year when he was 5. He loves them and plays with them most days. He builds and rebuilds often! Some people have said that their children don't actually play with theirs, but my son does. Yes, they do come apart some, but he has a blast with them anyway. He also loves that he can build the animals using the instructions but also Branch out and use his creativity to create uniqe "masterpieces".Some of the directions are misleading or backwards, but he mostly builds these by himself. Only occasionally does he ask for help. All in all, a really great toy! I definitely recommend them. I've even bought them for gifts!

Buy it
I liked this toy I definitely suggest that u should buy this it may take a long time to build but once u finish building it viola! u get a foam dinosaur u can play with and if it a part snaps off u can put it back on. The T-Rex can also be changed into 2 other forms a Therizinosaurus and a Carnotaurus. I added a picture of a finished Triceratops and Carnotaurus. I loved it and I am gonna buy others some day it was great!

Can't play with it once it is built
I ordered these for my 4yo old. He loves dinosaurs and building. He does great with legos and whatnot so I thought this would be a great gift for for him.He was not able to put them dinosaurs together himself due to the sheer number of foam pieces that are required per dinosaur. That in itself would have been OK as we frequently do projects together. However - I had a difficult time getting certain pieces to stay together and once put together it's so fragile that just picking it up would make the T. rex head fall off. It definetly cannot actually be played with once its constructed.Probably a great toy for an older child (manufacturer does say 6 and up I believe) that just likes to build models and not actually play with them.

Fun for a model
Fun to put together but that is it. If you try to play with them at all, they fall apart. Some pieces seemed too short as they were really hard to get the animals together. I like them but they did not blow our socks off and I constantly find them around the house in pieces. I have a 6yo girl who is gentle with her things.

... young to build by themselves - but made an excellent family activity
My kids were too young to build by themselves - but made an excellent family activity. They were engaged the entire time. Fun!

Build Large, Cool Dino Models From Foam; Perfect Lego Alternative!
My two year old son is a bit too young to attempt putting a toy like this Bloco T-Rex and Triceratops foam models set together. So I along with help from my 10 year old nephew took a crack. We built both models and the end result surprised us both; the models are really neat looking and better than I think we both expected.►CONSTRUCTION & INSTRUCTIONS:Instructions included in this kit are similar to Lego or Ikea instructions; simply meaning you get a lot of pictures and no words. The instructions in this set are full-color and that's important as there are two shades of green that both dino's use and a lot of pieces that are different in color only. The high-density foam comes in large pre-cut sheets of foam material. You'll have to punch out each piece as you build your dino. I'll go ahead and state that you'll have a lot of little foam extras from punching out each of the pieces. The instructions are about as good as you can expect. The color, glossy insert is very good but there were moments where even I was confused as to how exactly everything came together. The other issue is that it can be difficult to discern exactly what shade of green the instructions are referencing. So while the age range is advertised at 6-12 years I think it best to have an adult handy to help unless your child has a lot of experience with these types of sets.Pieces fit together surprisingly well and consists of high-density foam and brightly colored ball joints made of plastic. A few of the pieces such as the triceratops horns don't fit as neatly together as they should. Also, you'll be using a lot of square sections that fit into rounded holes (e.g. the tail of each dino) which can be a bit challenging to get together.►PLAY & USE:The end result is a really neat looking foam dinosaur with articulating limbs and heads. The toys are surprisingly sturdy and something kids can actually play with. Minor adjustments are probably going to be a norm so I definitely suggest holding on to those instructions. One complaint I heard immediately from my nephew is that the T-Rex doesn't stand up easily on his own. You can adjust the legs but the dino is just too top heavy and tips over.Another neat aspect is that the T-Rex model has two options during the built process. You can build a T-Rex or modify halfway in the construction process to build another dinosaur - a Therizinosaurus. Which is sort of a razor clawed Velociraptor looking dino. So there definitely is replay value here. Of course your more creative kids can go off the instruction sheet and let their imaginations go with the foam pieces and build whatever kind of dino they want. For my nephew and I this was a fun afternoon and the dino's are now proudly displayed next to his Lego creations in his room. Fun toy and definitely something different for the little builders in your family, recommended!
