The Hearing Wonder.
My husband has a cadaver ear drum and no eustacian tubes in his ear. He has been deaf for years in his left ear but could hear with headphones to watch the TV. This was a cheap long shot. But it worked and we overnighted this to try. My husband went for a hearing test and they tried to sell him a 6,600 hearing aid but this amplifier did the job, Sometimes there is feed back but turning it down helps and it depends on the level of noise you are around. Our tv used to be on the volume of 54 now its in the 20's and you restored a smile on my husbands face because he can hear whats going on around him and he isn't lost. You must let this charge a maximum of at least 8-12 per nite. It needs a long charge of 12 hours before you try it and whats nice is the charger turns green when its ready. We charge it all nite like a cell phone. I highly recommend this product and for the money and the great efficient way it works it is worth every penny. To us it was priceless.

Only good if you have REALY bad hearing.
I found this hearing amplifier rather painful to use. Unless you have really bad hearing even the lowest setting is really loud. I was having trouble at the restaurant where I work hearing the guests when they made their orders, so I bought this to help. It didn't. It amplified only the sharp loud sounds like cash drawers closing, glasses clinking, etc. to such a degree that I couldn't make out what people were saying over the noise. It made the problem way worse! I'm sure it's great for watching TV where you don't have a lot of noise around to distract, but otherwise I am not impressed.

Don't buy it unless you enjoy the return process
My husband has been using the RCA Symphonix since it came out a few years ago and wanted to have a spare (sometimes he forgets to charge it). I decided to try this one because of the low price. So NOT worth it. It didn't stay charged, the sound quality is horrible and it isn't as comfortable or "hidden" as the RCA. It's basically false advertising. After a couple of minutes he refused to use it at all. This also has no option to swap in a wider tube (gives even more amplification) like the RCA. So, if anyone is taking a look at this item, don't bother. I returned it immediately. (Amazon is amazing, got a full refund right away.) Your money is better spent on the RCA Symphonix amplifier. We got his original RCA one for $300 at Radio Shack and it is still working well with regular cleaning (battery life dropped by a couple hours over the last few months or so). The price has dropped to half that here on Amazon so I gladly ordered it, got it in 2 days and it works perfectly. I'll post a review on the RCA sometime soon if anyone is interested.

A great way to try out what wearing a hearing aid will be like ..... and at a reasonable price, too
Maybe it's just me. I wore this thing religiously for a couple of weeks, but just couldn't seem to get used to the amount of background noise, because it does amplify everything. I need to give it another go, because it did seem like I was saying "What????" less often, and that's a good thing. At least it didn't cost a couple thousand bucks to try, either.

My husband is still not comfortable with it
this is not up to par. My husband is still not comfortable with it. It is really too big and I believe it should be better for women so it stay hidden under their HAIR. The color is off and not good for African Americans, it is too light. I did not even send it back I might throw it out..

Not a Hearing aid - it is an amplifier (Big Difference)
It is Okay for am AMPLIFIER but it is NOT a Hearing aid. Can't adjust to your hearing loss and the tube is rather short and not adjustable..

It actually makes them more annoying then anything
it does what its supposed to do, however, its not for people of hard of hearing. It actually makes them more annoying then anything.

... sound amplifier to an elaborate hearing aid that was recommended by an audiologist
I much prefer this sound amplifier to an elaborate hearing aid that was recommended by an audiologist, was far more expensive, and which I had to return. I would recommend it to friends with moderate hearing problems but who lack the time and money to seek help from professionals and then experience heartache as well as ear ache.
