A hidden treasure need to be invested in
This is a great book I have ever read. The author has wisely compiled this book which reviews so many other books some of which have similar information but lack credibility. I would recommend this book for politicians, historians, sociologists, psychologists and so many others. This book carries so many valuable information for nations who believe in a true democracy for their people. Please read and invest in this book

It is an enlightening perspective by Dr. Asmerom Legesse to take an indigenous socio-political organization of the Oromo people, via the Gada System, and reflect that Africans can draw great lessons in developing modern democratic political systems befitting to their current need instead of blindly borrowing western democracy concepts that could more often than not remain alien in addressing the need of the people. A reader of the Oromo Democracy would greatly benefit from this in depth analysis as to how a very systematic African system of socio political organization functioned with success while appreciating that the essentials of democracy are not necessarily western but has been in application in such fascinating way in a settled manner as the Oromo people had it for hundreds of years. The book has had so much to offer even for modern times as many non-western nations struggle to find the kind of political system befitting to their needs to brings peace prosperity and development for their people.

Surprised
Does Oromia believe in Democracy? The answer is no. Oromia never believes in Democracy. If we see the current Ethiopian regime i.e the leading group is from Oromia. Take a look at what's happening in the Oromia regime. How many people were displaced, and lost their loved ones and lives with the last after Oromia led the nation? For example, the Gada system never allows a woman to lead or to be elected. In short, Oromia doesn't believe in Democracy!
