Imprint version is region free, "Episode Order" fiasco, and overpriced?
TLDR: Episode order is based on the production codes for each episode, Imprint is region free(I'm using region A player), and 2,000 copy limited edition widely available as of this writing, initially set for $180USD. Copy seems to be all the good stuff from all releases of the blu-ray version packed into one.The MSRP was originally set to around $180 USD. It hurts considering I ordered the Shout! Factory version just a couple of months ago, which was also a little pricey. There doesn't seem to be a high demand for this 2,000 copy limited edition as of this writing. Kudos to Imprint's and Youtube's marketing strategies for making me rush to buy this. The box and packaging contents are indeed well crafted. And the first few pages of the book included is a good read. Although that's all I've read, I've heard there's very detailed information about the production of this show. The promotional content(i.e.: Youtube) explicitly state that the Imprint version is region free, so no need to worry about relying on Amazon's currently listing info. And of course mine is too as my drive is for region A.The episode order is a strange one, but by doing a quick google/wiki search you'll understand why. Plus the first couple of pages of the book explains that during those times, from my understanding, TV show episodes were designed to have no order when they were only shown on affiliated/subsidiary/sister stations and not fully supported by one of the three major TV networks. The U.K./Australia and the US showed the pilot episode first, and then both of them went their own way in which order to televise the episodes(Including Year 2). To simplify the process of ordering the episodes, Shout! and Imprint(And maybe others) order them by production code.

Just as good today
This use to be on channel 9 out of Windsor, Ontario when I was growing up in Detroit. At that time I didn't appreciate the stories as much as I liked the special effects and monsters. Now that I have grown (slightly) wiser, I find that these DVDs have shown me a great deal more. The relationships between the characters and how they interact with the unknown. There is a depth to this series that I don't think I noticed before, and this set of excellent DVDs has shown me what I missed before. As far as the purchase goes, I have no complaints. All the DVDs played with out any problems. If you get a set of these in the U.S., you will need a DVD player that can handle other regions. The good news Amazon can help with that to, and they are very affordable.

Epic series! It has been a while since I was this entertained by a TV show of any kind.
This series is simply fantastic! Easily my favorite show by far and I'm just three episodes into the series. Be warned that the episodes are randomly distributed throughout the discs so they are not in the broadcasted order. I went to "TheTVDB.com" to arrange my playlist in the correct order for viewing.I already know that I'm going to be sad when I finish this series because it is so awesome! I'm also a big Star Trek series fan so I've already seen how much the latter has borrowed from this gold standard in Sci-fi! This one is an instant classic!

Great Set
This is an awesome set of an awesome show. Some have complained about the episodes being out of order, which is nonsensical because each story is self-contained. There is no overarching story. Besides, the episodes are in production order. Broadcast order is irrelevant.

This is a great, well produced package that will play in the USA (Region 0)
Without a doubt this is the BEST Blu Ray complete set of Space 1999 that has ever been produced. I encourage all sections of Alpha to purchase this box set before it gets blasted out of orbit!

Playable on U.S. Region Blu Ray Players
Picture and sound on episodes is the same excellent quality as the British ‘Network’ remasters. Superior collection of extras compared to the U.S. Shout Factory release ( including the 4 “telemovies”, never released on disc in the U.S. ).Although an Australian release, I’ve had no issues playing this on any of my Region A Blu ray players. Great value for the price.

Great quality video, confusing episode order.
As has been mentioned before this is an excellent transfer and the picture quality is outstanding.Buy the 'complete series' (season 1 + 2) as it is cheaper than either the 'Complete Series 1' or 'Complete Series 2' Box set. Odd.The disks are packed into one box, amazing that they can fit ten discs in there. However the episodes for season 1 (I haven't checked season 2 yet) are out of order. You'd think they would put the episodes in broadcast sequence, but no they didn't. For this, I dropped a star.Disc 1: S1 episodes 1, 10, 13, 14, 19Disc 2: S1 episodes 2, 7, 11, 16, 20Disc 3: S1 episodes 3, 5, 6, 15, 17Disc 4: S1 episodes 4, 12, 21, 22, 24Disc 5: S1 episodes 8, 9, 18, 23This is based on the episodes as listed on TheTVDB.com and Wikipedia.

It looks great!
I got the set of 48 episodes on Blu-Ray for Christmas 2019 and I have to say they just looks spectacular, although I have not got through them all yet. The colors are so vibrant and the music sounds big! It's great to be able to see everything so clearly. Space: 1999 will never look better. I would definitely suggest buying this set if you like the show however the set is region B, so most U.S. players will not be able to play them. However, my MCE Blu-Ray player/burner for my Mac apparently ignores my region code because it will play them. Woooh hooo!!! I was extremely happy and surprised about that!

"Nostalgia aint what it used to be !!"
I liked this Series when I was a Youngster, but couldn't help comparing it to Star Trek. Like others here, I got this for Nostalgic reasons, and as I grow older, wiser and more (more precisely) cynical, the flaws in this "Show" are all too evident. Some of them are highly amusing, especially as Series 2 maintains and perpetuates the numerous errors and faults that were apparent in Series 1.The Plots are almost identical throughout Series 2, and it might leave a Viewer wondering why the Cast (the Crew of Alpha) make the same stupid mistakes on every episode. But if you look "behind the Scenes" as it were, there are Production issues that leave you wondering...Cast: Barbara Bain, desperate for the Limelight, again relies on her Husband, Martin Landau, to agree to a TV rôle with the proviso that she co-starred alongside him, just as she did on Mission Impossible.I have little, if any, memories of “MI” with them both, but in S:1999 Bain probably insisted that when being filmed (in close-up) in a brightly lit Room (Set) it should suddenly be darkened except for a band of light across her eyes and the application of a Fairy Tale-Style, slightly out of focus, twinkle-in-her-eyes effect Lens Filter. Did she honestly believe that such a photographic or cinematic technique could enhance her questionable beauty?Continuity: I cannot remember there being an explanation as to what happened to Barry Morse's character (Bergman) or how replacement Staff arrived on Alpha.Equipment: Koenig (Landau) always specifies the “Big Screen” for “off-Moon” visuals – for glorious Technicolour, because the little internal Console screens and Mobile Comms devices (even in 1999) were only capable of Monochrome, and these always seem to be persistently malfunctioning, and need to be shaken every time you try to use them and can't get a reply. Rather like hitting the side of an old TV when you got Interference !!Why is everything and every Place labelled like it was in the Bat Cave? You’d think the “Staff” would know their way around the Base by now !!

BEWARE: BBC Lead-In Titles Appear on Episodes
I'm concerned that some of the discs sold were defective for a very good reason -- I have now purchased the same box set twice, and in both instances two of my DVD players at home, one on my computer (linked up to my wall-screen) and one linked to my television periodically show a weird clock 'card' with the picture of an Eagle and the clock counting down, wherein the opening scene is missing, what is on-screen is speeded up about fifty times and silent, and then suddenly the dialogue and motion returns to normal. To me, this feels like a recording error, either way its frustrating so that's why I purchased the second set in the hopes of putting an end to this. However, I was later to discover that it wasn't my computer or DVD player, as the same box set - all discs in fact - periodically start in the same way on the DVD player of a friend when I went over to his house to play the discs there for his and my entertainment. The same card appears, says the video was remastered by the BBC production services, and shows an eagle lit in red, and the image of the moon overlaid with a countdown clock which always goes to the video footage three seconds from termination.I tried to get American copies of the show but the recording quality was beyond awful - low resolution, dark picture, scan-lines (when seen on a British television set). So, buyer beware - this box set may not play 'normally' on every DVD player. I would have requested my money back but I purchased the box set in both instances while working abroad, came back to find it in my mail and by then eight to twelve months had elapsed so it was no longer possible to return the item. Twice.

No subtitles
Not happy I order this product saying it has subtitles even at the back of dvd complete set said subtitles English. When I play it no subtitles and it very dishonest to con people buying this product. I am Deaf and need subtitles to wAtch film

NO SUBTITLES!
Disappointed. It says subtitles, yet I have only found subtitles on season 2. This is a breach of what it states in the description. Generally people who buy this may be of an older generation, and their hearing may not be as it should be. I am profoundly deaf deaf and find myself watching effectively a silent movie. Disgraceful. If a set of discs could be sent with subtitles on, then please send them, and I shall return the set sent to me, other than that, they will be returned. Disappointed.

great classic
loved this show growing up in the 1970s. The moon his being used as dump for nuclear waste and a base has been established for scientific purposes. When the waste explodes the moon is hurled out of orbit. The crew on the base cannot control the moons trajectory or speed and return to earth is impossible. Thus they travel through space in search of a suitable planet. The stories are mostly good and though the creatures are hardly the alien or the predator thats ok. As for the acting its great and the eagle spacecraft are quite good and certainly acceptable as special effects go. For those of you who can remember this show with fondness its great to watch it again. If you dont know this show, its well worth a look. This complete series is great value for money
