No.2 (6mm) - Quality Everlasto Traditional Redspot Waxed Cotton Sash Cord (6MM x 50M)

I bought this to replace the waxed 100% cotton cord that used on a canvas pergola. My own fault for not reading full description, but this cord only has a thin outer layer of waxed cotton, the internal core is plastic polypropylene. Dont think it will last so long as old, and indeed on cutting the ends immediately started fraying from the core, unlike a true waxed cord that is solid. The title of this item should state plastic core cord.

Bought to use as a washing line of approximately 25m. One end is knotted, other end has pulley and cleat, I also use a prop in the middle because a full 25m line of washing can be heavy. All was well for the first couple of months. I then noticed that there was a wax build-up on the pulley where I'd been pulling the line up and down. I cleared it off, but it was obvious the protective wax was being stripped off each time the rope was pulled. Shortly after that, the rope itself began to fray. See picture for result. I acknowledge that for a short or stable line this product would be great, but be aware of this long-term issue if you're planning to use as I have.

Seems OK but not as solid as my other 6mm sash cord and when knotted pulls through knot holder on sash window.I'm sure it would be fine in all other situations.
