Essential tool for any DIYer. Very happy!
I needed to hang up a few paintings and TV so needed to drill a few holes in my wall recently to locate that all important wooden stud to bear the weight. I tried out my old stud detector and it seemed to go off everywhere giving me false positives. So I decided to buy a Tacklife as they normally do good tools. The construction of the device was very good, made from a solid ABS plastic, with soft rubber buttons on the front for selecting the mode of operation. It came in a nice PVC protective pouch to keep it safe furthermore a 9v P9 battery was provided which saved me a trip to the shops.I tested it out on my wall where there is a known live cable and it detected it without effort. It seems to be able to detect live wires in wood and metal mode whether you asked it to or not. When a detection is positive it beeps and an indicator will move on the LCD display (plus the LEDs at the top will start to flash) displaying the strength of the detection from 0 – 100%.The manual was a bit poor however it’s not really needed as the device was very simple to operate. I know a lot of reviews seem to overly praise it but this is one of the best stud finder I own and I use it all the time. It was very easy to operate, had a large backlight display and came with a 9v battery and carrying pouch.I’ve included various pictures. Thanks for taking the time to read my review.

A must if you are drilling in unknown areas.
Something I use regularly in my line of work and I've recently stood on my old one and broken it.I've used the Tacklife for detecting cables and pipes but not had occasion to use it for wood yet.It works well, gives clear indication not only of hazards but how close they are to the device so it helps you home in more accurately to where they actually are.Seems to be made of a good quality plastic so should be robust but I'll try to avoid standing on this one to test it out. It comes complete with the P9 battery. The battery was a very tight fit into the compartment so I may have some fun getting it back out again when it comes time to replace it but that's no big deal as I'm expecting it to last a good while. There are buttons to select wood, metal and power cables. You can calibrate the sensor if you get misreadings due to environment/moisture etc.It will still detect cables while in wood or metal mode and I've actually found the cable detection to be better if you keep it in metal mode for some strange reason. The key here though is to test it where you know these items are so you know what to expect when you come to the real job.It can also differentiate between magnetic and non magnetic metals. It comes supplied with a handy pouch with a belt loop so you can keep it close when doing multiple drill holes etc.

Great piece of kit, at a more reasonable price!
Having been tempted, and having purchased a "cheaper alternative"... (which didn't work, of course ! ), I recently bought this Tacklife DMS03 so I could safely put up some coat hooks, towel rail, and toilet roll holder in a stud wall, in the utility room.I could not justify spending the price asked by the "big boys" (Bosch etc.) for their stud/cable/pipe fining instruments, so this was a suitable, "mid-range" item.Whilst the instructions have obviously been translated, as there are some oddities in the wording, they were easily understandable. However, more importantly when in use, the sensor/device worked extremely well, and performed far better than I expected. I was very pleased with the audible and visual information provided, as you scan the wall in question. This gave me a lot more confidence in knowing I could drill the wall, and fit the items, safe in the knowledge I was not going to hit and damage any pipes, or cables.I would definitely recommend the item to anyone considering purchasing a stud finder.

Excellent Product.
I need a wall scanner solely to detect electric cables and it does that very well. I've tried other scanners and been disappointed but this is very good - I can't fault it. It shows a red light as soon as it detects a live cable and a percentage indication of signal strength. The middle of the 100% range gives a pretty accurate indication of the precise location. The instructions could be improved - they read like they've been translated from Chinese by a computer program. To detect electric wires you need to press the appropriate button twice.

Not any use for detecting mains cables in plastered wall
I was mainly interested in knowing whether there was an electric cable in the plastered wall so that I wouldn't drill at that position. I tried out a few test measurements on cables I knew about. Typically the cable would be buried at a depth of about 2-3 cm. I found the readings from the meter to be unhelpful - detecting metal edges from the corner reinforcement or metal box, but not finding the cable. Sometimes the whole wall was live! It seemed to improve if I held the wall with the other hand, but still didn't give me any confidence I wouldn't be drilling into a cable. So I returned it for a refund.

Made decorating my house easier
We have recently moved into our new house. So we have a lot of wall hanger decorations and pictures to be hung on the wall. Purchased this stud finder. This is a handy little piece of equipment to have in your toolbox. I can now hang my pictures up on the wall without fear of nailing through an electric cable or drilling through pipework.Comfortable in the hand, the thinner coated handle makes it easier to grip to scan along the walls. It is easy to use as there are only three buttons and the digital display provides accuracy. There is a clear instruction manual in the box along with 9v battery & carry pouch. All in all it is well worth the money for peace of mind.

Multiple Locator
This is my second Tacklife product I bought from Amazon a DM03 Multimeter that does all that I want for electrical work. This DMS03 stud, metal, power locator does the job. but I did find if you don't read the instructions like calibrating the tester first you on page 4 of the brief user manual you can get mixed results otherwise it works very well, you can mute the sound by pressing button 7 the metal power button. Also watching the Bar Graph percentage will give you a more central "point" especially when locating stud work.
