It's a Good Choice. Saves you time-money-and reduces stress.
The Garmin GTM 60 HD Digital Traffic Receiver (HD DTR) has proven to be a good investment. Recently we went on a 3,000 (+) mile business trip. About half way through our trip we ordered and received the HD Traffic Receiver to replace our original chord that came with our Garmin. The original chord is good, no problems and does its job. However, with the HD DTR, one step was saved. We no longer had to tap into our smart phone app "Garmin Smart Phone Link" to get ongoing traffic reports in various areas where this service was available. The last thing you DONOT want to do is find yourself in the midst of 8:00 am traffic in a new city asking your wife to assist you in setting up your app on the phone because you forgot to do so before you started your day's trip.. This is especially true when you can be easily re-routed due to "Live Traffic" situations. Not knowing about an upcoming "Live Traffic" could well mean sitting in your car for many minutes not moving at all or traveling at a very frustrationing pace.On our trip we had been re-routed several times and been notified of live traffic situations at least 30 or more times. Not only did these notices lessen our stress level, it further provided us ample time (sometimes as much as 60 miles away) to be prepared for a route change or a slower traffic pattern. We also from time to time were given notices of options to save 4 min or even 12 min. driving time by taking alternative routes. All this without the need to use the smart app.I would encourage Garmin to give a $5 to $10 rebate if customers would purchase this item at the same time they purchase their Garmin GPS. If given that option in the first place with a discount, I probably would have also purchased it at the same time--thus saving both time and money.

Traffic information w/o monthly fees
This power adapter / traffic information device works great with my Garming Drivesmart 65; no fees to pay to obtain traffic information; driving around in San Diego it gives me details about traffic on my route and integrates it seemlessly with the GPS because it gives me options to drive around traffic jams or gives options to improve time spent to get to the set destination. Thou price at first seems to be steep, it pays off rather quickly.

works as said
Having a GPS with 'lifetime free maps' (no cellphjones no bluetooth, no stoopid subscription stuff, it just works., I bought this as a backup. It works perfectly. The cable's appearance is slightly different (thicker?) but the end are right and it's fine.

Works fine in recent road test
Even after the negative reviews, I decided to try this. After I bought my Garmin nuvi 2555LMT, I was on a trip from Washington DC to Virginia Beach. A distance down I-95, I was caught in a major traffic tie up due to an accident for 30-45 minutes. All the while I was listening to reports on the radio about this accident. Even as I finally got to the accident scene which was in the final clean-up stages, the stock traffic receiver showed green with no delays on my route. And as mentioned by others, if you pay over $200 for something, you should not get annoying advertising in the screen. So I decided to try the GTM 60 HD receiver. After I bought it, I tried it in the Washington DC area for a couple weeks. It seemed to work fine and I always had a signal. As one other reviewer mentioned, it takes a while to clear the cache of the advertising. I selected the coupon on the screen, and then after it could not find the coupon with the new traffic service I turned the unit off and then on. This cleared the coupon from the screen.I recently took it on two college visit trips with my daughter. We flew to Florida and drove around the Daytona Beach Orlando area and I had a signal the entire time. I then drove from Washington DC to Columbus and Akron OH and back. I had a traffic signal the entire time even in the remote mountainous areas of PA. Approaching Columbus, I got a warning that the current route was blocked and a new route was provided. A few miles down the road an overhead traffic sign confirmed that the route was in fact blocked. I was provided a new route which completely avoided this delay. The traffic updates are much faster, and personally I think getting rid of those annoying adds is worth the cost.

Great addition for any GPS its compatible with
I'm using it with a Garmin Nuvii 2597. I got it on sale for about $52, less than what I could get the FM traffic receivers for. Amazon doesn't list it as compatible with my GPS, but Garmin does. You can find what devices Garmin says it is compatible with by going to the Garmin website, searching for this product, and then selecting the Compatibility button.I don't mind that it only works in large metropolitan areas, because that's where traffic congestion happens. I grew up in rural Kansas, and heavy traffic was 5 cars in a 1 mile stretch of road.I commute about 40 miles each way to work, and use my GPS as a distraction. I know the fastest way door to door, but with this gizmo, my GPS will pop open a traffic window and show where the congestion is, in real time. So far, it has also only told me I was already on the fastest route.I also have the GTM 60 external antenna connected, but not sure how much good it does. I figure it can't hurt.

Gtm 60 HD traffic works but do I need it?
OEM part. Fits as intended. I realised later that you don't need to register this to work. I works right out of the box. Tried for hours to register it on Garmin site but there was no way to do it and in the end was unnecessary. It does have the radio receiver in the cable in case your garmin does not have the built in receiver. My garmin (2795) has the built in receiver so when attached to the gtm60 it shows up in the settings menu under traffic providers as two providers. Not sure how the HD thing works but it is recognised by the gps. To confound the application I have the garmin tied into their smart link app on Android. The smart link app overrides the HD maps functionality I found. I'll use ithe gtm 60 on another compatible gps that doesn't have a built in receiver and see how it works there. Canada is starting to go with HD commercial radio so not sure if the GPS cable is fully supported in the area I live. The cable is more supple that the oem cable meaning it doesn't stiffen in cold weather like the original.

Works Great, adds traffic and weather to your GPS
Worked perfectly, and no monthly subscriptions. Plugged it in to my compatible Garmin GPS, turned on the traffic function in the menu and voila! I now have automatically updated weather & traffic. Works well around the city, traffic updates come on automatically. Weather function is a bonus, my area has changeable weather. Downsides? Expensive Garmin OEM item, but it's worth it if you use your GPS a lot when driving.

A must-have for Traffic-Ready Garmins GPS
If you have a "Traffic-Ready" Garmin GPS - you gotta this cable. Check the Garmin website to see if it works for your device (look up the cable and see what unit it is compatible with, not the other way around). I was surprised to learn that many units are Traffic Ready but don't come with the traffic cable - not sure why but there you go. Overall the "Traffic" is not a perfect science but overall it works pretyy well most of the time and I love having the traffic on my route monitored for me. I few times I have been automatically redirected to avoid traffic which is exactly what I want. Now that I have had one, it is a must have.
