Viatek Duo Treat Ice Cream Maker

This is very labor intensive and after one used, it was not worth the bother. Donated product and would not recommend.

The air of the normal freezer (at least my freezer) is not cold enough to freeze the mixture fast enough to make smooth ice cream. It doesn't mix fast enough to keep the outer, frozen parts of the mixture stirred in to the center so it stops when the outer part is icy and the center is still liquid - which then freezes too hard to be called ice cream. Also, the cold causes the batteries to drain faster. Can be fun if you have kids and want to make a couple of flavours at once but if you want real ice cream, get a real ice cream maker.Edited (5 months later) to add: for awhile the Duo Treat was not available. Now that it is available again they have a different picture for it. It's possible they've come out with a new model that addresses some of the problems listed above (then again, maybe not).

THis product does not make good ice cream - mine had ice crystals in the it. If you need help forget it this company no longer makes this product. I left several voice messages and no one ever returned my call. I followed directions exactly (I have been cooking for a long time) and got a second rate product. I did eventually find another number for the company and talked to someone who could not help.

Totally awful...NO CREAMY ice cream comes out of it. Just slushy crap. What a joke

I always wonder if people who invent things actually test their products, or think. Clearly neither were done.Basically you put the ingredients into the bowls throw the top part away, you don't need that, then place in freezer, every couple of hours just give it a good mix with a wisk.The batteries don't work in the cold. I bought mine at a resale shop for 2 bucks, the price still made me consider returning it.
