Learning a new language is difficult
I had been planning a trip to Portugal which has now been called off due to the Corona virus. But I am using my quarantine time to study Portuguese! I'll be ready with a basic understand when I do feel safe to travel again. This book has little quizzes and some explanations.

Portuguese from PORTUGAL!
Very difficult to find a Portuguese language workbook that actually uses the dialoque from Portugal. It is very different than Portuguese in Brazil. So if you're wanting to learn Portuguese from Portugal, this is the book for you!

It does the job, but would be better with a pronunciation guide
I'm working through this book, along with several other learning aides, homemade flash cards, and conversation practice.Having used several Spanish-language books in the same series years ago, I chose this one as it felt 'comfortable.'It does an adequate job of explaining Portuguese grammar. My biggest complaint is that there is not a pronunciation guide. I would expect this to be the first section of such a book! But perhaps there is a place for a beginning grammar book that neglects pronunciation. *shrug*If you buy this book, just know you'll need to find a pronunciation guide elsewhere (Google has many).

So far love this book
I haven't gotten halfway there because of my university work, but now that I graduated, I will dedicate my time to learning. So far love this book!

A truly basic workbook
I purchased this workbook as a general overview of Portuguese before taking another class. Here are my observations:1. Explanations are clear2. Practice problems are too easy and not plentiful enough3. Biggest problem with the book - they only cover ONE verb tense.. the present tense. If you want practice problems for any of the multitude of other moods or tenses in Portuguese, you are out of luck.I may be too harsh, but even for a basic portuguese book I would expect some mention of the past tense.I would recommend the book for absolute beginners, but it isn't useful as a review book for more advanced speakers.
