Bye, bye red wasps and carpenter bee holes!!!
I'm super excited to have found this product and thankful that a company has made an organic way to deter carpenter bees and wasps!I moved to my new home at the start of the winter season, this past year, and did not realize how badly our area was infested with dandelions. Well, sure enough, as soon as it started warming up enough, red wasps conquered my yard. The good thing was, was that they weren't aggressive, but were a problem as they were feeding off of the pollen from the dandelions and made it difficult for me to take my dog out. The worst part was, was that they also liked hanging around my deck. A couple weeks later, after the wasps established themselves, the carpenter bees started to claim the area of my deck as their own. (Prior to moving in, one of the posts in my deck already had a hole cut through by a previous bee.)I thought, when I found out about this product, that it was too late to use it, but thankfully I got it just in time before the bees could cause more damage. (I just put in a new fence and am terrified of the bees going in that direction.)I love that this product is safe and that I don't have to worry about my pet licking something on the deck and getting sick. But, most of all, it works!! Even though it's a small bottle, you really do get the most for your money, as they give you enough to mix in 5 separate gallons of liquid. Plus, you can mix it with water or a stain. For the deck, since it was so old, I just mixed it with water. For the new deck, I plan on mixing it with an oil stain. It took maybe, less than an hour, before the wasps left my deck. I was so excited. Even though the wasps weren't showing any aggressivenness, I didn't want them to take any chances of bringing more of their friends by. Since having used the spray, it's been about 3 weeks, and because of all the rain we get in my area, I've re-applied it just to be on the safe side. However, I have not had one red wasp come back! In terms of the carpenter bees, it's fun to watch them, as they try to find a spot on my deck to drill. I sprayed every nook and cranny, places where I thought they may want to drill. The male carpenter bee will hover, every now and then, around my deck, but he never drills, and I think it may just take time for his stubborness to realize that he's not going to find any place to drill.I plan to give an update once I get a chance to use it mixed with the stain. We've had so much rain, sometimes 5 days in a row, that there's no chance for the stain to dry in time.Seriously though, get this product, it works!!!UPDATE:So far, I have used this product mixed with an exterior oil stain and with mixed in water, both of which have worked wonderfully. I currently have been battling 5 carpenter bees and it has been difficult because they like really old wood, which I have a lot of. The wood deck is ridiculously old and has previously been drilled by other bees as mentioned aboved, so you can imagine the process I have to go through. However, that being said, this product is amazing! It seriously keeps the bees from wanting to drill in the old wood. I have to look everyday to make sure there isn't a spot that I missed, but that's an easy fix. For the deck I have been mixing the product with water to easily get on the deck. It's so much fun to cover the deck in this spray and see the bees not being able to drill anywhere on this deck! The best thing, it buys me a lot of time until I can replace the railings, etc, with metal railings and posts. I have also finally replaced a terribly old and put together front gate. The bees absolutely don't know what to do with the new wood, it's awesome! And for the new fence and the new posts, I've stained it with the nbs 30 for protection from bees as long as the stain will last. (Unfortunately, the estimated time length of the stain I chose should last about 2 years, maybe less, since it rains a ton in my area.) Regardless, on new wood/old wood, this stuff seriously last, as I have gotten to see the effects of it for 3 weeks now. The bees may still be around, but they're not finding any spots to drill thanks to this product. The only concern I have and it doesn't seem to be anywhere on the label, is that just making another mixture of this stuff today and the product seemed to start forming into a "gel" form. In other words, it's not the pure liquid format that it once was and I've only had this product for a month. I've kept it stored in a cool place, in the garage, but not sure if the humidity and the heat may have caused it to gel? Nothing much I can do about humidity as my area is humidity central. Just something to keep in mind. I'd like to know why this product does that. However, don't be alarmed if you see it happening, as it doesn't take away from the product. It mixed just fine in water and it didn't change anything with the product's fragrance, which is what the bees don't like.Still, awesome product!

First use was effective
My first day yesterday using it and it clearly helped reduce the carpenter bee activity in my area. I have infestation in some of the wood though but it was a hot April day over shady covered wood, almost a perfect zenith day of activity for these carpenter bees and it seemed to repel them. The bottle is lot smaller then what is pictured but you get five helpings (paint 5gallons) or split it up to that effect. I plan on following up in a month to see how long it lasts.

Still working after two months
This does keep the carpenter bees and wasps away, but Do Not apply it to a floor. It made our front deck slippery, which I should have expected because of the oils in it. I added this to deck stain and applied it to our entire front deck. We had carpenter bees constantly chewing on the deck, and wasps building nests under the railings. I wasn't happy with the price of this product, but we were desperate. It's been 2 months and so far it still works at keeping the pests away. I like that the container is marked so you know how much to add to each gallon of stain or paint. The smell is overpowering, but that is expected.

Works Well in Combination with Carpenter Bee Traps
This has worked well for a natural product but it was (and still is) a lot of hard work. We bought an old house with a terrible carpenter bee infestation and tried other ways to get rid of them for several years to no avail. What it takes is tenacity. 1st, we placed DE or Boric Acid in the holes and then caulked and primed them. Next, we put up 12 Carpenter Bee Traps to kill off many of the bees. 2 months later, we painted our house and added this to our house paint and painted the entire house, let it dry for a couple of days and then installed 12 carpenter bee cedar traps again. We started this bee process in February and as I write this review its July. The repellent in the paint has been somewhat helpful but whats been the most helpful is the combination of this product with the carpenter bee traps. We are leaving the carpenter bee traps up for an entire year. Lastly, the manufacture of this product and the reseller on Amazon has been wonderful. Photo shows newly painted house with outlast added and carpenter bee traps.(1) UPDATE The Following Spring: We took down the bee traps in November and this Spring the carpenter bees were back swarming the house. It was nerve wracking but decided not to re-install the bee traps so we could see how well Outlast worked. Fantastic, did not get a hole drilled into our newly paint wood (we used Porter PPG Paint called Permanizer Acrylic Coating). We did however get one bee who started drilling a hole on our Outlast NBS30 treated cedar deck.....he tasted the Outlast and stopped drilling. the deck was stained with TWP stain. It appears that our paint (which is really a specialty coating and not a paint) worked better than the stain. In short, it was hard labor getting rid of these carpenter bees but the outlast worked when adding it to the paint/stain. Before the painter came we sprayed the outlast mixed with water on the wood and it did deter some of them but still some holes were drilled. the trick is YOU MUST GET RID OF ALL THE BEES B4 USING OUTLAST. The bees will return the next season but will be turned off by the taste/smell of the paint/stain additive. In 2018 the bees did returned but did not drill holes.(2) Update: the outlast additive to our deck stain in 2016 has worn down by the summer of 2019. In 2019, we had 3 more holes drilled on our deck (that was stained and outlast was added to the stain) but not on our house that had been painted with porter paint (coating). I had to put the bee traps back up around the deck (but not around the house).
