NP-FW50 Travel Charger for Sony Alpha A33, A55, NEX-3 & NEX-5 Digital Cameras

I returned a NEX 5 charger to Sony for replacement after it started to give me flashing lights in the charge cycle. I had one Sony battery and 2 aftermarket "Power 2000" batteries. None would work in the Sony charger. After 1 month, (and many phone calls), Sony admitted the charger was on "back order". In my experience with Sony, this mean "we have a problem and please excuse us while we get parts in to replace all the problems" So to get me back in business taking photos, I ordered this charger. It arrived in about 5 days, worked right out of the box, and would charge both Sony and aftermarket batteries with no problem in about 3 hours. It is lightweight, smaller than the Sony charger and so far has given no problems. At $8.60 including shipping, it makes Sony look inept and with their chargers at about $60, not good value. Highly recommended!!!

I bought this product because I didn't want to pay $60 for the original sony charger. I charged 2 new Sony NEX-5 camera aftermarket batteries on this charger when it first arrived in May of this year. They both charged at 100%. When the aftermarket batteries ran out of juice today, I tried to recharge one of them using this charger for only a 3rd time, and it overheated in the outlet, and burned out leaving an an aweful smell. May have started a fire? Fortunately, the aftermarket battery which I paid $20 for didn't damage, and was able to function normally in my camera. Camera said it charged up to 65%. The batteries had no problem fitting into the charger like some reviewers had with their aftermarket batteries. Too bad it wasn't durable though. I'm going to have to look for another charger since I was planning to use this one in addition to my original camera charger for when travel.

As I wrote for a similar product, the price was great and I had no problems (as some other reviewers have) with malfunctions or electrical burning. For the price, this generic battery charger does an excellent job. Think of it as a bonus charger for travel use because it works with a home AC power outlet and in an auto cigarette lighter. Shipped fairly quick -- you should have it in your US Mailbox within one week after ordering.

I lost my Sony charger that acme with my NEX 3 so cant use my camera. I was excited to find a replacement so cheap and it arrived within 2 days.It arrived today and I plugged it into an outlet and 10 minutes later it burnt out with a popping sound and the electrical burning smell was awaful - same as in another review though they had at least got 2 charges out of it first.I called and they immediately offered a refund and told me not to bother to return the product. Seemed like they are used to this situation....Guess I'll have to pay up for a more reliable version

Forgot my charger at a hotel and it was not worth chasing down the hotel to mail it to me. Found this and it works as well as factory. The battery kind of hangs on the charger, but it still works very well - guessing is designed to avoid patent infringement.The car charger attachment was a complete bonus in my mind, particularly given the price.

Shipped promptly and works great! It's convenient to have the ability to charge in the car and on the road. The only drawback was that the two prongs that hold the battery in place while it charges broke within a week of getting it. But it's still not a huge deal. Just lay the charger and battery flat and it works fine. I'm a happy customer.

I like how this battery charger even came with a car charger option. Thought that was cool. The price was right too..Seller got the shipment out quickly. Everything works great. Thanks..Highly recommended.

While driving down the road on vacation trips this device assure me of having suffient battery power for my power sucking Sony A55 DSLR.
