I will be cooking up a storm over the weekend.
My mother suffers from high blood pressure and she takes her medication daily. I, on the other hand, am allergic to my high blood pressure medication so I have made it my goal to eat right and get alot of regular exercise. This book has alot of great recipes, that are DASH diet friendly, that I can prepare with my slow cooker. The first recipe that I had to try was the overnight slow cooker oatmeal - it was absolutely delicious. My husband and I decided to have this every morning from now on. I will be trying more recipes over the weekend.

PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
Second worst cookbook I have ever purchased, the worst being her Dash Diet for Vegetarians. Obviously I purchase them both at the same time, or I would have saved half my money. There is no nutritional information on the recipes, not even the number of servings you can expect.Clearly no one proof read this cookbook or the other one put together by the same author.Below are some of the pearls of wisdom you will read on the pages of this book, all direct quotes.Since she cuts and pastes nutritional guidelines from her firsts book, the same information can be found in this book too:Page 4: “4-5 servings per day of nuts and seeds like peanuts, walnuts, sunflower seeds, almond etc are beneficial.”Page 4: (in bold print) “Foods to be avoided” –“It is advised to reduce the food consumption of refined food grains that contain fats, added sugars and salts(sodium).” “Red meats, aerated sugary beverages and sweets like jelly, jam, sorbet, maple syrup etc should be avoided-not more than 5 servings per week.”Page 11. “Saves time: Using is a slow cooker can be benefitted by saving lots of time and also involves healthy cooking.”Page 11: “As the food cooks, it releases the steam which the lid of the crock pot starts captivating within it which in turns helps the food to be moist throughout the cooking process.”Page 12: “The ingredients or the vegetables can be cooked thoroughly by adding enough spices to give the required amount of taste to the food.”HUH? This type of advice/information appears to go on throughout the book. The Dash diet is not a copywritten protected name, anyone can use. Clearly that is the case here.As I said on my review of her first book, the disclaimer on the last page reads: “The writer does not advocate the use of any of the suggestions, diets and health programs mentioned in this book.” I think that sums it up PERFECTLY!

Great Ideas: Don't be put off by "vegan", just adjust and add meat if you want.
I saw this was free one day and snagged it. I saw DASH diet which I know is one of the most sustainable specialty diets out there and was intrigued. (There's a section up front that talks about the benefits of DASH). I looked closer and saw vegan and frowned. My husband and I weight lift so anything meatless is not realistic for our lifestyles.I started to look through the cookbook and it does give some interesting new ideas for a crock pot like curry dishes, quinoa, chickpea and bean heavy dishes. A lot of the dishes you can just add in chicken breasts and it will be the same cook time, or add in lean ground meat last minute. I was pleasantly surprised at the new content of this cookbook. The only drawback is that the desert section is unnecessary, it doesn't need to be there and the recipes are not very conducive to a "diet". Baked apples, yes. Cinnamon roll casserole, no. Otherwise I will be using some of the recipes soon like the red lentil soup, homemade granola, and sweet potato curry (maybe add in some ground turkey?).There's not enough content to be worth $7.99 for the paperback, but if you can get it for free with the kindle deal, do it.

This little cookbook has some great recipes that I can just set and it's ready ...
I've just recently started the DASH diet. I needed options, lots of options. This little cookbook has some great recipes that I can just set and it's ready when I get home. I'm single so one recipe is enough for me to have leftovers or freeze for future meals. Thanks for a great book! It's helping me stay on track and meet my goals!

Tastes great! Will make more once new crock pot comes in!
So far my wife and I have only tried a few recipes from this cook book but they were great! I am sure we would have tried more if I hadn't broken our ceramic crock pot while cleaning it :(Easy to follow recipes that taste great!

Wait, is this book a joke? Please tell me this book is a joke.
Nearly every sentence in this book contains some combination of awkward wording and grammatical/structural errors. After reading the first few sentences, I actually checked the title page to see if perhaps the book had been (very badly) translated from another language. (It had not.) Granted, the horrendous quality of the writing does not necessarily have any bearing on the quality of the recipes - but it is extremely distracting, and really calls into question the education/intelligence of the author (and thus the prudence of taking her dietary advice).(Examples from just the first couple of pages: "...also by involving in various physical activities." "This method was around since centuries." "It releases the steam which the lid of the crock pot starts captivating." "Using is a slow cooker can be benefited by saving lots of time.")Any would-be benefits of the low salt recipes on my blood pressure were more than cancelled out by the blood pressure spikes I now suffer while contemplating how this person was allowed to graduate from middle school - much less write a book that she wants to charge money for!

Most healthy recipies compromise on taste , but this book has tasty and healthy recipies.Low sodium diet is the way to health, because too much salt can leave most of bodily functions in a mess. Looking forward to trying more
I love slow cooker recipes. What better way to cook than to chuck everything into a pot and go about your business for the day and come back to a lovely warm dinner ... and with these, you get the added benefit of losing weight and staying healthy at the same time. Great recipes, easy to follow and from the single recipe I've cooked so far, very happy with the outcome. Looking forward to trying more.

As if this wasn't bad enough the images are really tiny and do nothing ...
Not impressed at all with this book. It is greatly overpriced given that the images in the book are all in black and white. As if this wasn't bad enough the images are really tiny and do nothing to whet the appetite. I am returning this book for a refund.

Dashed confusing
Didn't realise this recipe book was American when I ordered it. I'm sure the recipes will be delicious once I've converted them to U.K. ingredients (by the way, what is Kosher salt?) but the jury's still out.
