I really like this shoe...here's why (with pics)
Merrell Women's Siren Edge Hiking Boot, Faience, 8.5 M US So I was a little concerned about buying these shoes because of some of the negative reviews. I'd been shopping for a pair of hiking or approach shoes for several months. I really wanted a lightweight shoe that I could use for trail running in a pinch. When I found these shoes, they had all of the featured I was looking for and I didn't have any excuse to not try them since, with Prime, there were free returns. I've had them for a few days and wore them walking around town for a full day. They are very comfortable and fit as expected. The toe box it roomy compared to my running shoes and they seem VERY WELL MADE despite what others have said. The arch support is really good and they have nice thick tread. I can't really think of anything that I don't like about these shoes. See all the pics to see quality.

Well worth the investment
I bought these shoes for a trip to Ireland and wore them to hike down every path and over every rock for a week. They were equally good on uneven streets. They have great tread on the bottom and held on slippery surfaces and just enough cushion for comfort and conform to the foot well. They strike the right balance between sturdy and flexible which was so helpful on rocky surfaces. The colors are attractive and made it possible to wear them with a variety of outfits, since the design doesn’t scream hiking boot. Most importantly, after miles a day not a single blister! I hesitated over price before I ordered but in this case, I definitely got what I paid for!

Fit like a dream right out of the box
I purchase the Merrell Siren Edge to wear on a 9-day trip to Scotland. I had previously bought a non-waterproof pair of Keens and was all set to wear them. However, the Merrells fit like a dream right out of the box and had a much nicer profile than the Keens. They were roomy in the toe box without looking so clunky and the sole was actually more cushioned than the Keens. They were also very lightweight. Sometimes shoes run short, but this sizing was spot on - a true 11M. My foot isn't particularly wide and they fit well with moderately thick socks. This is an ideal shoe for walking on a variety of paved paths and trails (compacted dirt & small rocks). For significant mileage off trails, I would probably want a more stable hiking boot.

The color of these is so fun, very cute
I buy a pair of Merrells twice a year for work. I work 12 hour shifts where I'm on my feet most of the time and have dealt with Achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis in the past, so I'm picky about shoes. These were a bit larger in the toe box than most of my Merrells, but nothing I couldn't get used to. My usual 8.5 fit right everywhere else. The color of these is so fun, very cute. I loved how grippy they were, they were perfect for the hospital floor. Sadly, after one shift in these, my plantar fasciitis was coming back, and my hips and knees were killing me. I can't pin down where the problem is, but the arch support seems to be lacking compared to my others. Have to return them.

They’re totally waterproof yet still breathable and super comfy. The only reason I rated 4/5 stars ...
Bought these for a hiking trip in the PNW, my feet stayed completely dry while my bf complained about having wet socks most of the time. They’re totally waterproof yet still breathable and super comfy. The only reason I rated 4/5 stars is because they are not slip resistant whatsoever... which I thought was kind of important when dealing with wet surfaces. But I’ve had them for about 6 months now and they’re holding up great!

My favorite hiking shoe
These are my favorite of the hiking shoes I've ever bought. They are not as bulky and outdoorsy looking as the others - they are't brown. They look more like a performance shoe and they worked out very well on a steep hike over rocks. They gripped very well and are very comfortable!

I have a lot of hope, since they were good right out of the box.
I wear a 7.5W, and finding good shoes is an adventure. I was torn between these and a couple other Merrell and Keen models, but I finally chose this one on the ratio of good reviews to bad. I fully expected to have to go to a size 9 on these, but the width worked well, and I don't feel any strange rubbings internally, as noted by some other reviewers. These are very firm, out of the box, and in my (minimal) breaking in period, I can tell that they will protect my feet during light and medium hiking. I have gotten my feet wet a bit, and haven't noticed any soak through, but I wouldn't ford a stream in these unless I was being chased. I hope, being Merrells, these will perform reasonably well under normal wear and tear, but I'll update if not. These are very low on my ankle (good for me) but you can't quite tell that from the picture. If you need ankle support, these are not the shoes for you. I paired these with Lorpan Ultralite socks and they fit well. I am excited that they don't dig into my heels like my Keens or Altras do during break in.

poor construction
I am a size 8-9 depends on the brand. I was really happy with finding a size 8 shoe that is comfortable so I kept them. I have now been wearing these for a month, and it would had been a great shoe if it hadn't been so poorly constructed. The fit is still great, they've never caused me blisters or anything, but they squeek. A lot. You can feel that the sole in the right shoe hasn't been fitted properly, and goes up and down internally. Maybe I was sent a not so great pair, and others are ok, but if you are as unlucky as I was, you won't be able to wear these inside a building unless you aim to sound like a cartoon character

Great purchase never use a different brand again.
My boyfriend encouraged me to go with Merrell as my next walking shoe purchase as he loves them and everyone in his walking wears them so after vigorous searching on the Internet an reading reviews I found these and fell in love. I haven't had a single problem with them the fit is perfect, there was no rubbing and they look good. There quick drying which I love, I was tired of waterproof shoes as the seal on them goes quickly and it's a lot of faffing to use products to re seal, and when there wet they stay wet for days but these are brilliant I bought sealskin socks for those really wet days. I don't think I'll ever go back to any other brand.

Don't buy. Not durable.
I bought these trainers in April 2017. At first I thought they were great. Comfortable and waterproof, however, the waterproof seal has now split and if I walk on wet grass, my feet get soaked. I really don't think it worth £70 for a product that fails within 3 months.

Waste of money
Very unhappy with these. For the brand and quality you'd expect the to 'do as they say on the box' and endure woodland walks and to be water proof. However these have all ready started splitting at the seams to connect the soles after 5 wears 😡

light weight and comfortable
purchased a half size bigger than my normal trainer size and they fitted perfectly - they have a nice roomy square toe area so your big toes dont get sore on long walks - did my first 36k in them and no complaints at all - feet comfortable and good grip over various terrains - the shoes appeared to be quite stiff when taken out of the box but softened very quickly and needed very little breaking in - a great purchase

Great purchase with quick free delivery
I had tried these on in a shop and found them a little pricey, but these were at the right price with free delivery so I ordered them from here. They were dispatched and arrived very quickly. Exactly what I wanted and now I am wearing them all the time. Would have no hesitation ordering this brand again from this supplier, although I ordered a size 6 for my size 5 1/2 feet as they don't do half sizes so this is worth bearing in mind. A size 5 would have been too small. A great purchase

Don't buy this model
Bought ir for 75£ and after 3 days of wearing the waterproof layer started to peel off. And after 2 weeks more everything started to fall apart. Awful quality for such a money. Terrible, this is all what I can say about these shoes. Don't buy them! I'm really dissapointed. And in pictures you can see my boots after 3 weeks of moderate (10-15km per day in Englands weather) wearing.

very comfortable. I have winter walking boots
Fits to size, very comfortable. I have winter walking boots, summer walking boots and now these Hiking shoes all from the Merrell range. Love this range as is a great fit for me. If you get your feet measured properly for walking boots (which don't fit or measure the same as your every day shoes) at an outdoor walking shop - say Cotswolds, and find a boot/shoe that fits your foot type then stick with it.

Smart
Having read other reviews after ordering these, I've left off reviewing these for a couple of months. A couple of months of rain, hail and snow, during which I've worn them nearly every day. They have been absolutely fine, no leaks, and they're smart enough for wearing to work. I did get a blister the first day I wore them, but to be fair, I walked a long way that day and I do have tragically fragile skin - so I'm not marking them down any stars for that.

Great light walking shoes
This is my second pair of these trainers. They were so light and comfortable from the start. Wore them constantly on a weeks walking holiday in Spain and not a single blister. Ideal for dry terrain but waterproof version may be better for British weather!

sub standard
Only had these a year and didn't wear them hardly at all for the first 6 months. It isn't like I have trashed them but now they are splitting. The uppers are separating from the sole and they are leaking. No longer suitable for a Scottish climate. Have had other Merrell trainers and shoes that have lasted for years so am pretty disappointed.

Comfy, let's hope they last!
Love these shoes. So comfortable and waterproof. Had a pair before but after 8 months they split. Loved them so much I got another pair. Let's hope these don't go the same way. Here we are now 3 months on and they have come away from the soles, it's not even as if they are a tight fit. They now leak so will be going back under the Merrell years guarantee, I hope!

Great buy!
Love love love them. Only just big enough. I have quite wide feet and these are perfect. I bought them for dog walking through the summer/autumn months. I think if you wanted to wear thick socks with them it would be best to order a half size up. I ordered the blue colour but to me they seem more green. Fab colour and a bit different anyway. I've had 3 pairs of Merrells now and they are so comfy. Great buy...

Great fit, very comfortable
I was diagnosed with flat feet about 8 years ago and since then have had to wear footwear that supports my feet. Merrell trainers have become my go-to footwear preference and these trainers are no exception. They are very light and comfortable and the fit is excellent. There is good support for the foot arch and the look fairly stylist too (I got black). They say they are waterproof but I haven't tried them out yet in a torrential downpour.

Excellent product, but more like a trainer than a hiking shoe!
Brilliant fit: but yes they are more like a trainer, very light and extremely comfy, couldn’t ever go back to ordinary trainers now, totally hooked, Merrells all the way from now on!
