I purchased this book because I love Michael Hague's illustrations. There is really no story here at all. A child asks his mother about fairies as he is put to bed and she says she will tell him what she knows about them. Each page has hardly any text, but the pictures are beautiful. So this is really a picture book and not a story book. It is for the very very young....and/or someone who really likes Hague's art, as I do.

The art is truly amazing! My only conplaint is that I wanted more! It is absolutely wonderful from front to back and is a melodic and soothing read! I can not wait til my daughter recieves this on Christmas morning she is going to want me to read it to her immediately!

Very sweet fairy book. My niece loves it, very colorful on every page. If your a fairy fan then this is a book to add to your collection.

First off, oh my gosh THE ART!! I could get lost in the illustrations for hours. Secondly, I like how the author doesn't reference the child's gender. Boy? Girl? Both? Neither? The readers can imagine themselves as the child. Also, I don't think it's possible to read this book in anything other than a very calm tone. We'll be having a frustrating bedtime and somehow this magical book just chills us all out instantly.
