... yet but what I have read has been very useful in understanding covenants in the Bible
Haven't read all of it yet but what I have read has been very useful in understanding covenants in the Bible. I also have Trumbull's "The Blood Covenant" and "The Threshold Covenant" and these have helped my understanding immensely. Be advised however, that he is writing from the point of view of an anthropologist and looks at the development of covenant making in many different cultures as well as relating it to how God originally made covenants with man. So these books include accounts of some fairly strange permutations of covenant-making by various cultures -- especially the other two books, mentioned above.

Very good study of the salt covenant.
I was really impressed with the depth of the study of the salt covenant. Unfortunately, Mr. Trumbull mistakenly believed that all of the Father's covenants were forced on His people rather than freely entered into by the parties themselves. Nevertheless it is a great study. Highly recommend it for the serious Bible student.

The most significant book on Covenant
This book is the most enlightening book I have read regarding covenant. For me, this book brought me to a major breakthrough regarding the cultural and spiritual significance of covenant. All of Trumballs books are excellent, and frankly required reading for any Western Christian interested in covenant. I have read many books and heard many presentations on the Covenant concepts, but none of the modern authors I have encounteed have the understanding that Trumbull had. I give it my highest recommendation.

Those of us who have a religious christian history in ...
Those of us who have a religious christian history in our lives tend to focus almost entirely on the New Covenant. Those of the Older writings, seldom get exposure or study in churches and the salt covenant in particular is rare in even being mentioned. Trumbull has done exceptional research in this volume in giving us the historical context in which such covenants were a part of everyday life, all around the world. Against this background, he opens the few passages where the salt covenant is mentioned in Scripture and thus gives new insights and meaning to a seldom read or recognized means of relationship. For the biblical student, this will open long shut doors of learning while for the causal reader, it will give just one more hint that we need to learn the historical context into which the Bible was written in order to understand what its true message is for us in the 21st century.
