I am very pleased with this piece
I am very pleased with this piece, I like the indices on the bezel gives it a tech look, the attached bracelet is much better than I expected and I could size at home watched a you tube video. I have worn it in the shower daily, and the accuracy is 18 + - seconds per week checking on WWV. I like the locking on the bracelet and the overall finish on the product is excellent. The dial is clean and the black is a lacquered finish as opposed to a flat black matte finish. Lume is good but the hands are longer so at night it looks different but OK, and it lasts all night so easy to read when I awake. It is a silent movement and runs way past I would expect when I take it off and may not put it back till next afternoon. The value is excellent for the price, it is a real value. The workhorse movement runs on the mark with some abuse, I have dropped it a few times. The display back is nice but I could be happy without it. It is fun to show when others ask to see it, I was in Panama and at a coffee shop a man wanted to look at it. He was amazed to see the works moving right along.

Nice everyday watch
This is a great watch to wear on a daily basis. The band is nice and does not pull hair. The crystal is fairly tough. My watch runs 5min slow every 2 weeks. What do you expect from a $120 automatic. Great value at a reasonable price. Good watch to wear at work.I really like the open back so you can see the inner workings of the automatic. Nice watch to show off to people. Nice glow in the dark hands and time markings too.

Excellent quality.
The only real drawback to this watch is the band. It's a real pain to adjust, but it can be done with simple tools. I paid $10 to have it regulated at my local watch dealer, and it now keeps perfect time.

Awesome watch, looks like its worth 5 times as much
this is the best watch i have ever owned. i wear it everyday and i really like how it looks. It is extremely shiny as well. One thing you may not realize is its hands glow in the dark, depending if you like that look. I like that it doesnt need to be winded or need batteries as well. Overall this is a nice very professional looking watch.note: it took me a while to figure out how to adjust the strap. Look up 'seiko L watch band' to see how to adjust the strap.

Timeless timepiece
A historical achievement in horology. Well built, accurate and simple... a great introductory piece in watch movement.

Attractive watch with non-replaceable band and poor readability
The Seiko SNKE01 is an attractive watch with several style elements similar to the top of the line Grand Seiko watches. The indices, tapered hands, and brushed-finish bezel give a high-quality appearance above its $130 price tag. Of course, being a Seiko 5 it has a reliable 7S26 automatic movement with a decent 40 hour reserve. As much as I wanted to love this watch (and I tried), it has two unfortunate features that tarnish an otherwise excellent timepiece.First is the metal watch band. It looks nice and has a brushed finish to match the watch bezel (no shiny bling). However, the folded-link design is often criticized for being too light-weight and cheap feeling --somewhat expected at this price point since Seiko pours all the quality into the case, dial, and movement. The simple solution is to replace the band with a variety of aftermarket straps...except that's not possible with the SNKE01. Seiko designed this model without a standard replaceable band --the small center links at the base of the band attach directly to the watch case and are only 10mm wide. Most watch cases accommodate standard width (20-22mm) bands with standard spring bars for easy band replacement. Not sure why Seiko chose the non-replaceable band for this watch style --it would be killer with a different band. Granted, I did know this before I purchased it but my disappointment is that you're stuck with a so-so band with no easy replacement options.Second is the shape of the hands. In photos and up close, the tapered hands are very elegant looking. However, the tapered design makes it difficult to read the time quickly at-a-glance, especially in anything other than bright ambient lighting. The reason is that the lume paint on each hand barely extends halfway down the length of each hand, causing the tapered end of the hand to disappear against the watch face. It is easy to confuse the seconds hand for the minutes hand in low light. The Seiko 5 medallion doesn't help for readability as the hours hand simply disappears from view as that hand passes from 11 to 1. So, for me, the quick readability of the watch is difficult.I thought I would like this watch just as much as my existing Seiko Solar SNE039. As it turns out, the Seiko Solar remains one of my favorite watches for several reasons: expensive look and feel, solid link metal band, highly-readable face/hands, and is powered by ambient light (holds a 10 month reserve, never needs a battery). It's the ultimate, trouble-free watch. See attached photo for a comparison of my Seiko Solar vs the Seiko 5.In the end, I returned this Seiko 5 due to the non-replaceable band and poor readability compared to my excellent Seiko Solar SNE039.

Nice watch
Super elegant and accurate, the band is pain in the back to resize, but still 5 stars.
