KirbyCaldo Gallego 6 cans pack, 15 oz each

I like this product because taste so good that brough me back when I was in twentis. (I'm 84) . It Is a litlle priced for me, I would buy more often if were les than 4 dollars.

So I was really sick recently and had zero appetite. When I started to feel a little better I had a craving for only one thing, a good clado Gallego. This fit the bill. I used to have this stuff (in varying brands) when I was a kid and we were short food. Back then, the canned stuff was cheap, good and quick to make. My mom would put on a pot of rice, heat a can or two and that was dinner. Both my mom and dad worked, and when overtime was available they took it, leaving little time to dine. The six pack of this stuff is reasonably priced (per can) but the single can is crazy priced (I know shipping one can negates any profit). It’s as good as I remember, except that I remember it coming with more chorizo (my dad would give up his piece so my mom and I could have a little bite of meat with our dinner). Often my mom and I would cut ours and share it with him. We were broke, they worked hard, but there was always love and now we want for nothing.Not only did this bring back memories, but it made me feel soooooo much better that I polished off the whole can.If you’ve never tried it, it’s like a light Spanish chorizo flavored navy bean soup. Share it with friends and have a traditional Galician bowl of beans (over white rice if your Cuban enough!,)…..

Good service and great soup. Thank you for having this soup since it is no where to be found where I live. This collard green soup is delicious.

I lived in Galicia for 20 years and had this soup many times - this version needs more greens (turnip greens or similar) to make it like the Caldo Gallego I remember.I may try adding some cooked greens next time I open up a can.Overall, pretty tasty and nice to heat up for a warm dinner on a cold evening.But expensive.....

Price

Cans came severely damaged to the point I don't think it's safe to eat. There was no packing material inside, cans were tossed in loose in a plastic bag. It was not cheap. And there is no return.

I love making the caldo, but it takes time. This was a great purchase! It tastes like a traditional Caldo Gallego.

Second only to my grandmother's caldo gallego. Best caldo in a can.
