OREO HOLIDAY CHOCOLATE COOKIE HOUSE

My children and I have built a gingerbread house from the prepackaged kits every year. Once in a while we get lucky and don't end up screaming in frustration while building it. The icing never holds things. The roof pieces don't stay in place but slide a slow death to the ground. The walls never stay upright and we usually end up resorting to hot glue as a last resort. This kit, however, was totally different! It worked PERFECTLY!!! We even had lots of leftover icing. That is unheard of with other kits. We'll be building Oreo houses from now on! (Note: We didn't eat it, so I have no way of judging flavor.)

They made no effort to pack it in a way that there was any hope of having any unbroken pieces of the gingerbread house. I opened the package (with my kids excited beyond belief to make them) and both packages were nothing but crumbles and completely unsalvageable.As if that wasn’t bad enough, as I was trying to sort through the rubble to see if we could at least get one (still broken) gingerbread house out of it, I discovered that all the pieces weren’t the right ones to actually make a house. One of the packages was missing one side of the house, but had 2 of the front pieces of the house.This was the worst Amazon purchasing experience I’ve ever had... and that’s saying a lot because I do pretty much all of my shopping on Amazon.

I was very happy with this product although I have gotten kits for less money, but they were not Oreo so that may be the difference. What I liked most was it came with a tray that held the walls of the house in place when you were assembling it. Many kits don’t have this and holding the walls in place while the icing dries is a real nuisance. For that reason alone I would buy this product again. The only drawback was trying to stop my grandkids from eating the cookies while they were decorating it! Good product!

Bought this back in October to have for the grandkids to put together tonight...12/21/19. The whole kit was a wreck! When we opened it, we found 2 of the walls were cracked, all of the oreos, large and small, were crushed and not nearly enough icing was provided for the whole house. I feel like I was totally ripped off!!! This was way too expensive for the mess that I received. I will never order anything from these folks again!!! AND....I was totally embarassed in front of my grandkids!!!

Loved the idea. My daughter is allergic to ginger/ginger bread. So we got this and the little town to go with.Tip #1..You are going to open it and pieces are going to be broken. You can glue them together with the icing.Tip#2...cut gently all the pieces apart with a butter knife. Or you will have more breakage.Tip#3...keep the pieces you cut apart from the same sheet together. That will form one house or village if you got both box options.Tip#4...line a full size sheet cookie pan with wax or parchment paper.build everything on that and let dry overnight before you decorate. Take a blow dryer and blow crumbs off the wax paper and frost the roofs and decorate. Add xtra gingerbread people, marshmallow snowmen, candy cane walkways...so much you can do!

Pros: She liked the oreo look and taste. Small bags of candy decorations saved buying more than you need.Cons: Two broken walls and one broken roof.Not enough icing to secure, fix broken pieces and decorate.No way a child will be able to replicate the look with that one flimsy bag and insufficient icing.I had to buy a decorating kit with various icing tips and multiple bags and a squeeze bottle. We also added edible glitter and used powder donuts for the window boxes.

The kids enjoyed making the house. It was a better flavor than a gingerbread house so I would buy it again but the price was way higher than a local CVS and the shipping broke the pieces despite good packaging. Therefore, I liked the product, it came in proper time, but I would never buy it in this way again.

I am sorry to have to share some of the same reviews of others it came completely broken and unusable I ordered two sets and they both showed up the same way. My grandson was so disappointed when we opened it and started to want to build it
