Q: I'm not sure I understand the idea here - is it just a fabric cover and the idea is that the birds see the cat coming? It doesn't make a noise?

Q: What material is the collar made of? Does it get wet and stay wet>

Hi. A Birdsbesafe® cat collar cover is cotton, exclusive of the reflective trim. Although cotton fabric does get wet if rained on, there are several other positive considerations. Cats work very hard to stay dry and out of the rain themselves. Pet cats go back indoors frequently, where a wet collar cover could be removed by the cat owner. And, in a pouring rainstorm, most birds are perched high in trees, not on the ground, so the need to send kitty outdoors wearing Birdsbesafe® collar cover in the pouring rain may be minimal. Our company's seven years of feedback from customers has not included any negative feedback about collar fabric, so we think all these things work together in favor of our product. Q: How wide is the cover? Not the radius or diameter

It’s about two inches wide. But it’s very movable.

Q: Does it affect a flea and tick collar effectiveness?

Don't know. My cat did not wear a flea/tick collar. We did see a vast reduction in birds killed, though. It really does work.
