I'm getting old, and my back isn't up to lifting the way it used to be... So I purchased this lift. The purchase was triggered by the need to replace an appliance in our kitchen - I needed a lift that could reach about 50" high so I could slide the appliance out of the cabinet and onto the lift - this worked perfectly. Since, my son has used it to to the same thing with a new oven in his house, and I've used it to put several things in and out of my pickup truck bed. The unit was pretty easy to assemble. So why only four stars? First, while I purchased this from Amazon, it gets shipped by the manufacturer via a trucking company. The packing is not adequate to protect the cart - it came with the back and lift table dented. I decided to keep it and "pounded out" the dents - I really wanted to get to my appliance project. Second, the release cable has needed adjustment three times - it just isn't a very robust design. Lastly, the lift capacity is only 220lbs - I wish is were more. All that said, it works and does what I've needed it to do, and it will lift over 50" high.
