Clairol Age Defy Expert Collection, 5 Medium Brown, Permanent Hair Color, 1 Kit (PACKAGING MAY VARY)

Best hair color for very, very, very stubborn gray hair. I have tried so many kinds of hair color for gray coverage and typically, they do not last, my gray hair starts to show within a week to two weeks or the formula is incredibly drying. I am forty and I have medium to dark brown hair. My hair started graying in my twenties. I have spent lots of money at salons and home color formulas. I LOVE this particular color as well. I did not have any brassiness with this formula. My recipe for success is to use two boxes of Clairol Age Defy Expert Collection Hair Color for my medium length, very thick hair (three inches past shoulders). To avoid any drying effects, I used Fekkai Shea Shampoo and the Fekkai Shea Deep Conditioner Masque and my hair turned out extremely well. I did not use the enclosed conditioner, but I am sure it works well too. I would advise protecting your skin with a little vaseline or something because this stuff does stain skin around hairline for several days if you are not careful.

It's awesome! Leaves your hair VERY soft, shiny and healthy looking. #5 is an Ash Brown which is the exact color of my natural hair, so this color is true and a very rich brown. Not dull at all. It covers my gray and stays on for about 8-10 weeks. My natural hair is past shoulder length and has white hairs coming through mostly on the sides and underneath, so I use this to blend my gray with my natural brown. It works perfect. No need to go to a Salon. I also love that the box contains a whole tube of conditioner that you use after your shampoo to keep that silky soft feel in your hair.

Ordered several boxes but they seemed old. When used product left lingering smell (scent) for a few days that was not fragrant. This product is not being made now so what you find is not fresh and there is no date on the package. Do not recommend. Average instructions per other products may be difficult to use on long hair - need to develop technique to color the back of the head / look in mirror before starting and practice parting hair and layering

If you are like me and expected a true chocolate medium brown out of this box...be warned. It is much darker than medium brown...almost borderline to black. When I called Clairol, and I recommend this to anyone who has hair color woes, they told me to buy light brown #6 so my hair will come out as Medium Brown. Clairol never asked me what my natural color is...she just said its darker because the color is a cream base. I hope this helps those of you who cried at the darkness of your color.The product, itself, is outstanding and truly professional...my hair never dries from coloring anymore.

For hair color it's fine. Color is nice however I am going back to my semi-permanent brand. Can't stand the ammonia smell, too strong. The best part was the conditioner. It did make my hair soft and manageable. I will be buying it separately.

Excellet coverage. Soft hair. Love the color. No messy. I stopped coloring my hair 25 years ago as I was premature grey at 30 and after coloring my hair 50% of the grey would be showing in 3 days. My grey hair very resistant and color would not stay in. This product has stayed in more than a week. Had so many compliments on it. No smell either. Hair is soft, manegable. Not dry and a burned feel with other products I have used. I am very pleased with this product and will order again.

I am loving the AgeDefy color by Clairol. It actually makes my hair feel softer and smoother than before I color it. I wish it were more available as they keep running out of the color I want to use. The Medium Brown is rich and strong and looks pretty much like my real hair color. It covers my stubborn grays very well, which is most important.
