I have been searching high and low for a vivid green lace with a bit of sparkle. It is so rare and every time I found a supply (albeit abroad) it went out of stock before I could order it. After some musing I decided to attempt dying lace. Since I wanted a very bright, limey Kelly green, I decided a yellow base would give a brighter result.The original yellow color of this lace is gorgeous, bright, sunny, true yellow. The pattern is gorgeous with just the right amount of sparkle. I dyed it with DyeMore Peacock green on the stovetop. I was anxious it would come out dark, so I used very little to begin with, maybe a tablespoon, and then added a bit more after about twenty minutes. I did test dye some sections of it before proceeding and got exactly the same color again on dying the full amount. My test run gave me light lime green, light olive, and Kelly green.The whole yardage fitted in my very tall stockpot on the stove and tolerated the very hot temperature very well. I am not sure if there was any shrinkage, I didn't measure. I was concerned the pearl beads or rhinestones might melt, but they did not. The pearls and backs of rhinestones took the color, which I loved. It did lose a lot of rhinestones that were in the bottom of the pot when I emptied it, but it had plenty left for what I wanted.If I need a specific color lace again, this is one I would consider. It's very pretty and looked gorgeous made into a dress lined with a dark olive charmeuse satin. It's weight was perfect for dancing, the skirt swung beautifully. I didn't use the border because I made a circle skirt, but I have that saved for a future project.
