I only recommend this hose to those who have extra cash to ...
I purchased the Pirit 50' hose first. The hose lasted 13 months (which is really only 3 months of use. The hose worked the first winter then was put away and the hose worked twice the following winter. I could find no support on the product, no way to fix or replace parts, no response from the company. Chores were faster with the heated hose so I purchased a second hose only 25 ' this time since they are so expensive. This hose lasted 12 months and one week (4 months of actual use). I only recommend this hose to those who have extra cash to spend. I hope that people will take this review very seriously. I am not the type of person to write a frivolous complaint but I do not want to see others exploited like I feel I was

I would not recommend this product to anyone that has cold winters
I have a farm in Maine and need to water cattle on a daily basis. I have bought four of these hoses over the years- only because it seems to be one of the only products on the market and I prefer to buy through Amazon. All of them freeze up when the temperature drops slightly below freezing. Three of the four have flat out died. I would not recommend this product to anyone that has cold winters. I always end up dragging five gallon buckets to the cow pen. Not much fun with 100+ gallons a day.The design is also poor. Linking two hoses up requires running an electric cord to the middle of the connection- another hassle when there's snow on the ground.I recommend the five gallon buckets or running out old fashioned garden hoses and bringing them back into the heated garage when done. It is a lot cheaper and you won't lose you mind every winter.

Read this before you Order.
I received this hose today. Here is my first impression.... If your RV has its water inlet inside a compartment, per the directions, this hose will not function properly. The issue is the thermostat is located about 12" down from the male end of the hose. That's the end that connects to the RV. If the thermostat is in a compartment of any kind, the compartment will likely be heated either directly or indirectly and the temperature inside the compartment will not drop low enough to activate the heating element in the hose, which means your heated hose will freeze. Overall, the hose appears to be of good quality, just a poor design for my use. There are fittings available on Amazon that will allow you to reverse the fittings on the hose, thereby moving the thermostat outside near the water faucet and the plug near the RV water inlet. Beware, the fittings required to make this change may not be certified for drinking water use. And as the folks in Flint Michigan now know, "There is no safe level of lead in drinking water." The hose and its fittings are certified for drinking water use.

Essential part of a winter water plan
Everyone who keeps animals in winter has the challenge of how to get them water when temps go way, way down without signing over the paycheck to the power company or spending the day hauling water and replacing frozen water. The problem is that heated water bowls and buckets will keep water from freezing but draw a lot of power while water in unheated containers freezes and has to be replaced frequently. If you're hauling water from your house that can be a pain - I did it. I would not be able to keep my birds in a typical Vermont winter if it wasn't for this hose but it did take a plan. First, you need a properly grounded outlet near your spigot. Second, if you use a quick connect you have to disconnect it from your spigot after each use so your spigot can drain and your quick connector doesn't freeze. (That's no big deal.) Third, drain the hose after use (it's easy for me because my spigot is downhill of the point of use and gravity does the job). My online research says some people don't drain the hose and just allow an extra 20 min before use for water in the hose to melt, but I suspect that will affect the life of the hose. Fourth, keep the hose off the ground to prolong life. I drove T-stakes into the ground at intervals and looped some wire to hold the hose up. The theory behind this is that the hose won't be drawing power to melt the snow around it. Do this and you have a reliable water source in winter. I've used the hose in temps down to -15F. After that you get to decide whether you use the hose to supply regular buckets, heated buckets, a heated reserve tank or some combination - but at least you've gotten the water out to your stock. Oh, and at the price of this thing spring for the Protection Plan!

After one year of use!
I bought this and another Pirit heated hose for full time hookup to my tiny house off of a special water line from the permanent farmhouse. We had a cold winter Dec 2017 and Jan 2018 in Indiana with temps down to -10 F. Cold for us anyway! These HOSES worked great and never froze. We had a freeze up only three times last winter. In each case it was freezing at the connection points (oddly enough it didnt freeze at -10, but at slightly "warmer" temps instead). I insulated the connection points and was fine the rest of the winter. I also coupled two hoses together to get the length I needed. This apparently voids the warranty, but I am at my one year mark anyway. After storing them over the summer, they are back online and still work fine. I *think* I got a "version 2" hose, maybe? Which apparently is improved. Either way, I bought them on Nov 16, 2017.

Hose Coupling Blew Out
"Upgraded" our old RV standard potable water hose with external heater; that hose had gone through 2 years of service and I felt it should be replaced. This one lasted less than 2 weeks installed. Came home today to a fountain; the female coupling had come completely out of the hose. Our lot was flooded from the open hose. Glad it was above freezing still or we'd have an ice rink! Reinstalled the old hose (SOOOO glad I hadn't thrown it out yet!)Nice theory but in reality this thing blew apart and our lot has low water pressure too.
