Mobile Suit Gundam: The ORIGIN 11: A Cosmic Glow (Gundam Wing)

Gundam: The Origin volume 11! The second to last book in the series and it contains one of the greatest battles in all of Gundam! The Earth Federation launches an attack on the Zeon space fortress A Baoa Qu! Amuro encounters Char and Lalah once again in space as the White Base begins their assault! Kycilia schemes against her brother and Char is outted as Casval! While he yearns for the destruction of House Zabi, Artesia let's herself be known as well!This volume starts off real strong with Gihren's Solar Ray attack and the beginning of the A Baoa Qu conflict. One neat thing is the use of GM Customs. These aren't like the Gundam 0083 MS but are a special limited-production GM that is on par with the Gundam. They also come in a long-range variant with dual shoulder cannons. They remind me physically of the Blue Destiny Unit 01; complete with a green visor that turns red. Sayla pilots one of these GM Customs instead of her Core Booster. Char's Gelgoog also has 2 Beam Naginatas instead of one. But otherwise, the Zeong stayed exactly the same. Braw Bros were present at A Baoa Qu though.This volume makes it way all the way to the famous "last shot" scene between Amuro and Char. Volume 12 seems to be normal length but there isn't much more story to pull from the TV series. I'm really curious of what changes, if any, are in the final volume! At the same time, I don't want it to end. I've said this in one of my other reviews but this series makes me feel like I'm seeing Mobile Suit Gundam for the first time. To get that feeling again is priceless.

*HERE THERE BE SPOILERS*YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!With the penultimate volume of The Origin we reach the Battle of A Baoa Qu and see things set up many volumes ago come to fruition. Amuro and Char's rivalry enters it's bitterest phase yet, one that will last over a decade and eventually lead to a truly mind blowing end. Sayla finds herself leading a Deikun loyalist rebellion from inside A Baoa Qu. The differences between the original First Gundam anime and The Origin are quite refreshing and stark in this volume so even if you know the story, in a few ways you don't if you've not previously read The Origin. Happily Yas did keep in THE iconic shot of the RX-78 (and it is glorious)! Summing up it's you've come this far with The Origin you won't be disappointed at all; and if you're new to The Origin, then why are you starting here, go back and start with volume one!

This is the best volume yet, the iconic final battle of the One Year War, and the next to last volume in the series. If you're a Gundam fan, or a mecha fan, or even just a manga fan, this is a great read. The story is good, the binding and pages are extremely high quality, and the watercolor pages are breathtaking. This is the absolute best manga I have ever read, and it won't let you down.

These books expand and improve (opinion) on the original 1970's Gundam plot, adding lots of plot and character development. It's all great and the art is phenomenal.

Ottima edizione acquistata in lingua inglese per via della copertina rigida. Se amate Gundam lasciate stare tutti i seguiti e le varie serie dagli anni novanta in poi : questa è la storia originale di fine anno 70 magistralmente disegnata, curata, approfondita dall’ autore. Avvincente, disegni mecha curatissimi e psicologia dei personaggi realistica ed approfondita: li amerete tutti. Appendici con omaggio di altri disegnatori molto noti in Giappone e tavole di Yas a colori su ogni volume. Mai letto un manga così bello e bilanciato per momenti di azione/introspezione: non avrete altro Gundam all’ infuori di questo.
