Hayward W3S310S ProSeries Sand Filter, 30-Inch, Side-Mount

Bought this for my 35,000+ gallon pool. The installation was relatively easy if you are handy. Note that the variflo must be purchased separately. So far so good. I've been running the filter for about a month and the pressure is low and my pool has never been cleaner.ps. Use teflon tape liberally and you should have no leaks.

I had this filter installed about 5 years ago by a local pool service. Over the past year or so it had started leaking out the top and my naive response was to backwash (which was correct) but also to tighten the clamp at the top. If I had read the installation manual I would have seen that it warns against this. The result is that the rim eventually showed signs of stress and I was afraid that it would eventually fail catastrophically. So I ordered this replacement filter.What I probably should have done instead of tightening the clamp when it was squirting water out the top was replace the sand. I have since learned that the sand needs to be replaced every 5 years or so. As I was removing the old sand I observed that it was full of debris that would not be removed by backwashing. This was probably also due to my lazy maintenance of the baskets in the skimmer and pump. I will be much more vigilant going forward.The hardest part of this installation was draining the old filter and removing the sand to the point that I could move the sucker. The drain is badly engineered and is blocked by a screen that is supposed to prevent the sand from draining out. I ended up breaking that out in order to get the thing to drain. Even then I had to continually poke a screwdriver in the drain to keep it clear. Otherwise it would slow down to a drip.After I finally got the old filter rolled out of the way the installation of the new filter was uneventful. I ended up using some of the old sand at the bottom because I was using Zeosand in the new filter and I read that it likes some normal sand at the bottom to help it. So far so good. Following the Zeosand instructions, I backwashed a couple of minutes and it quickly ran clear. Afterwards I set the system to filter and the pressure rose up to 20 psi. Now I am just filtering the pea soup that my pool has become since the filter has been out of commission for a week or so. From experience I know I should backwash a couple of times and keep an eye on the pressure to make sure the filter does not clog up with algae. In the meantime I am adjusting the pH and adding chlorine as necessary.

Shipping was fast. My old filter was too small for my 41000 gallon pool. This one runs great. Pool was a little green and within two days after install, it was blue and running great. Also found I don't have to backwash as much. Love it.

Not coming with multi port valve I don’t like that I thought was included

The S310 filter arrived today. Just in time for me to install it over the weekend. The box is pretty beat up. The base of the Filter is broken. This filter did not come with the variable flow valve. It did not come with any kind of valve. So Now I have to order the valve that goes to this filter and a new base. I could have gotten a better deal at the local pool place on this filter with valve.

I have replaced old Hayward DE filter with this Sand filter. Our Pool maintenance contractor installed. So far it is working and pool water crystal clear.

worked extremely well on my 40k gal pool. have ZeoSand Alternative Pool Sand Filter Media loaded in it and have only backwashed a few times.

Delivered in good condition. Was an exact replacement of the old tank. Installed easily and working well. However had minor leak issue with the lower drain. Drain cap would not seal and/or stop dripping water. Had to make & install my own drain cap gasket to stop leak. Noticed the new tank has a larger drain & cap than the old tank. Not sure why the change as the old tank lower drain & cap never had any leak issues.
