This lantern stands about 3 1/2 inches tall and is about 1 1/4 inches wide. It runs on 3 AAA batteries and your first set are included. This lantern runs on an energy efficient LED bulb so it gets pretty decent battery life. Inside and out this lantern is made very well. I believe that it's made of aluminum alloy and it's colored black on the outside. It has seals where is opens up to make it water resistant.This lantern is also a flashlight. You can collapse the top to store it or turn it into a flash light. It produces a pretty bright beam of light and you can focus it from a far spread to a narrow beam. You twist the top in order to adjust the beam. If you want to turn it into a lantern then you unscrew it and pop it open. There is a clear plastic chamber inside that lights up and it's plenty bright enough to light up a small room, work area or to use outside while camping or whatever other use you can come up with. It has a nice metal hangar on top so you can hang it off of a pack or hang it up in an area to get it off the ground.

Powerhouse of light
surprisingly very bright.I have 10 lanterns because my neighborhood loses power often, and this little powerhouse of light is my favorite. lightweight, handheld, has a hook to hang on ceiling flower hooks, small enough to easily store in nightstand.It has three settings, one of which flashes light, which is nice to have if your car breaks down or you are camping and need to signal friends in an adjacent site.You could even buy four and have 800 lumens at a good overall price. (although batteries would drain quicker than larger lanterns with many D batteries.)also, there are lots of sellers with the same lantern/flashlight. Compare this to others online... it is the BEST price by far! AND comes with batteries.

Great purchase!
Wow... this is a really nice little light. The small print on the aluminum casing says, "Classic Glow", and it does just that. I'd say it glows rather than shines, but is also a nice little flashlight that shines as well. Should be really good for darkened trips to the bathroom, both on the trail and at home. It emits a respectable amount of light into a darkened room as well. It's not like daylight but will certainly allow you to avoid a toe stump or to read, as others have offered. It has a metal attachment for hanging and think it is perfect to light up a small tent or provide enough light in a larger tent without disturbing others. Small enough to carry easily in multiple ways but packs a punch bigger than its size. Very good ambient light and easily transitions from 'lantern' to flashlight. Thanks for a great buy, well worth the price!

Good if beed for occasional use but seems l was ...
Similar to flash light sol d by Eddie Bauer yet much lower quality. Work as with some of same features but flimsy compared to their product sold n ear same price. Purchased as needed for staff and Eddie Baeuer was sold out. Wished I woukkd h ave waited for them to fill their backorder. Good if beed for occasional use but seems l was week made to endure regular use.

What does this lantern do right..... it provides bursts of light for split seconds over and over and over again but only if you hold down the button. Beyond that, nothing. Gauging from other reviews I may have received a dud.

Free Product provided for evaluation and review.This is a very well made light that is SUPER bright. You can hang it up. Normally it looks like a flashlight. The top turns to concentrate the light from extremely bright to diffuse, and if you pull the section up that is normally inside the light, it makes a diffuse glow that works well as a lantern.It makes an EXCELLENT reading light. I extended the light out, and put it at the base of my book. The light went all night with me and didn't lose any brightness. I didn't have the best batteries in it either.This would also make a good light for working nurses and medical personnel. The ability to concentrate this light lets it function as a good pen light for doing neuro checks, and its small size fits well into a pocket. Pulling it out and using it as a lantern can assist in checking on patients that are sleeping when you need some extra light but don't want to turn on their overheads- it is more diffuse in this position than a flashlight and less liable to wake people.It can, however be used as a flashlight - it's really all in how you adjust it to work, and the adjustments `stick' until you change them.It's lightweight, works great, and is very versatile. This one gets 5 stars. The only way I'd like it better was if it were USB rechargeable but no doubt that would double the price.

Small portable pocket lantern/flashlight
This is truly a pocket camping lantern or flashlight. It small enough to put in your pocket, but does provide enough light to get around. There are three modes: bright, light, and blinking (SOS). It already comes with batteries, but I had to put them in correctly to have it turn on. I think that was done to prevent it turning on during transport. It worked fine after that. I thought this would be a nice pocket light for camping, hiking, or just keeping in the car in case of an emergency. It also seems really durable and has a pretty hard casing so I think it could drop out of your pocket and still be fine.*Received at a discount for an honest and unbiased review.
