Not sure these locks were ready to be sold -they need more time in testing
I really really wanted this product to work. Did I say really? Yes I really did. We have a child with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS). Individuals with PWS have insatiable appetites and are known to steal food. Their diets must be tightly controlled and food locked away. For our child, they consciously know they must not be eating when it is not meal time, but the temptation of open cabinets is often too much. We don't need fortified locks, just something to inhibit the random temptations.I did a search of the Internet and found this lock. As a techno (iPhone oriented) family, this seemed perfect. We could open and close the cabinets from an app. Love it! So we ordered 2 to try them.INSTALLING THE LOCKSThe item came well packaged but instructs the user to watch an instructional video on how to install them. The video is accessible via the app. However, there is no Video link in the app (despite what the screen shots indicate). So, we fired off an email to the company's website and eventually got a response with an email of instructions. They were helpful, but to be honest, we didn't need a lot of guidance to install them. That process was rather straightforward.TESTING THE LOCKSBefore we screwed them into the cabinet, we did some extensive testing on them to make sure they worked properly, What we found was that they would get out of sync with the phone and need to be reset. That is accomplished by holding down a reset button on the lock. My wife was skeptical about installing them, but I wanted to "go for it". So we did.USING THE LOCKSWell they never really worked for us. We installed them and played around with them locking and unlocking the cabinet. After about 8-10 sequences, one of them completely stopped working. THANKFULLY the lock broke when it was unlocked. When we would go to lock or unlock from the phone, we could hear the lock motor running but the lock would never open or close. Its as if something in the motor failed.I can't say the same for the other lock. It broke when it was locked. So we were (for a period of time) locked out of our cabinet. I eventually just grabbed a hammer and popped them open (these are not strong locks at all - so don't think it will keep the burglars out).CONCLUSIONPerhaps these locks just need better software or some more time in a QC (quality control) process. I do know that if the company can get these issues worked out, they have a good market opportunity selling these to PWS families. However, both of them have been ripped out of the cabinet and we are left seeking an alternative strategy. Its a bummer because I wanted something hidden that could accomplish our goal for our family. This just doesn't appear to be the solution. If you end up buying these, keep a hammer on hand to pry open your cabinet or drawer when they stop working.

Easy to install and works great!
Seems to work without any issues so far. I am only 1 day into testing, but it has worked well with proximity locking/unlocking as well as with manually locking using the app. It also has worked great with my apple watch - same functionality and timing. Overall the device seems pretty quick to lock/unlock which is great - faster than many smart home products I have tried in the past.I will agree that the instructions are minimal (does not come with any) and advises you to download the app. Their website has basic instruction steps of how to install and following this I did not find it difficult - and I am really not that "handy" of a person. Probably took a total of 5-10 minutes. So far I am rather impressed and will probably order another - the only comparable product on the market is about 5 times the price which makes this seem like a great deal. I will update this if anything starts to go wrong, but so far so good.

STEER CLEAR, AWFUL PRODUCT!
UPDATE: All 3 locks that I installed stopped showing up in the app altogether. I have no choice but to use a crowbar on all 3 cabinets. Seller does not respond to any inquiries. AWFUL PRODUCT. AWFUL SELLER.Bought several of these after favorable initial impression. A few weeks in and these locks are worthless. They randomly unlock themselves (I think it has to do with losing/regaining bluetooth connectivity when my phone comes and goes out of range. These were never meant to secure anything strongly as they're made of plastic, but they should at the very least stay locked unless I manually unlock them via the app. I tried contacting the manufacturer via their website, and several weeks later still haven't gotten a response.Bottom line: It's a lock...that randomly unlocks itself. If you need one of those in your life, this product is for you, otherwise I'd look into their competitor Stealthlock, despite it being more expensive.

If it was reliable, it'd be pretty good
I so want to love this product and give it a great rating. Installation isn't hard if you take your time.In general, once installed, it does what it says it will. Unfortunately, I've had various problems with every single one I've installed. For some, I simply couldn't reconnect with the device via Bluetooth one day. In other cases, it connects fine and talks to the app, but doesn't actually lock or unlock. I had another case where it made a funny-sounding beep, and just refused to go further. When that happens, there is no option other than to force the door open, and put another one in. Or switch to another better product, which I'm still searching for.If they produced a v2 which didn't have app or connection issues, I'd rate it a 3. If they strengthened the assembly somewhat, I'd move it up to 4.For now, though, I have bought several simply to replace the failed ones.

Great easy Hidden Lock for Knife Drawer or Alcohol cabinet.
Added it to our Knife drawer in the Kitchen, and it works famously. Also easy to install. iPhone app is easy and simple. Andriod app is a clunky and in need of some work. Product could be improved on by allowing more than one phone to connect at a time. Someone opens the drawer, closes it walks away... Next person can't use until app is closed or is out of range for a period of time. But definitely one of the better Home Automation tools. We got it because we are considering Fostering and all sharp utensils need to be locked up.

Works well enough; could be better; but discontinued.
I bought one to lock a kitchen cabinet. It works okay but not great. You have to open the app and wait for everything to connect before it works as advertised. It is also not great handing off from one device to another. But it worked well enough that I'd buy another. But according to the manufacturer, they are no longer making the product. Too bad as it the only thing in its category and worked well enough. Hope they decide to come out with a even better version 2 in the future.

been using it for a few months. no issues. The proximity doesn't work how youd think it works. you still need the app open. which kind of defeats the point.
