Hooks mainly consist of high carbon steel. After tempering, steel is subject to hydrogen absorption. During tempering and heat treatment, as well as during the surface treatment process, steps are taken to prevent this.

strong hook
I've been using these hooks in saltwater for well over 20 yrs.Caught more trout, redfish, bluefish, sailcats~ ~ even large rays then I can remember.Never a problem. Just remember to check leaders for wear and tear, and remember, to change out when dull from use.. ~ or sharpen. I mostly use size 6, 4, 1. 2, and sometimes 1/0,I cannot remember EVER losing a fish because of these bending. Busted/ bitten off leader, but I never brought in a bent hook. Maybe the point was dulled or rolled a bit from snags on oysters etc. When ya need a STRONG hook~ ~ these are the ones! MUSTAD

Fish on!!!
I was recommended to try these hooks by a man who makes his own fishing lures and flies and other fishing related lures. I was sceptical at first, but once i started catching the fish with it then it proved its point. My hook set ration increased due to such a quality sharp hook and the strength is amazing at times a little too strong. I got hung up on sum rocks and instead of it breaking off I instead lifted the rock right off the ocean floor. The great thing about these hooks is that they don't ware out as fast as other hooks i used to use. They keep sharp and they resist rusting very well even if it was used in salt water applications. I just rinse out all my lures that i used that day and air dry it, this increases the longevity of these hooks. I love these hooks!!!

Halibut, Rockfish Slightly dull
Longshank for halibut/rockfish.However, I found the hook a bit dull compared to other brands. For the price, it works for what I need. I fish around rocky/kelp areas and get snagged a lot so I do not need expensive ones.

Performed great in saltwater, no rusting or corrosion.
These hooks were a great value, some guys swear by stainless steel hooks, but as a machinist by trade I can tell you that a stainless hook will never hold a point like a steel one will. Stainless steel (300 series, the most corrosion resistant type) does not make very durable cutting surfaces like knife blades or hook points. These hooks with their tin coating will out perform almost any stainless hook for about 1/3 of the price.

awesome hooks
watch out these suckers are sharp, i just got an awesome vise for tying, you might not feel it sometimes because its sharp( dull hurts worse) id often see little blood spots not realizing i was jabbed. these are also supper strong with out the brittleness, it has flex but no bend.

Wouldn't buy again.
Very dull. Was not impressed. Couldn't even get them to stick to my nail. Just ordered a sharpener, hopefully I can get them tuned up. The eyelets are also a little smaller then I expected. I bought them to replace my troubles on some spoons.

Great hooks for the price
I ordered these to tie big streamer flies on and they have the weight and strength to be perfect for that application.
