What a delight of a book!
Written by Anne Michaels, a wonderful poet who lends the gift of her vivid imagination to this book marketed for children and I'd like to add adults as well. Emma Block's wonderful illustrations show us Miss Pettigrew and her cats engaging in some of their antics. This duo makes the book a win-win with adventures that take you soaring through the sky and landing back on earth in time for tea and dessert. Warning! This book may make you hungry!

Highflying Adventures With Miss Petitfour
Do you enjoy stories with great imagination? If so, this is the book for you.The author, Anne Michaels, had written such a lovely and fun book for children. We meet Miss Petitfour and her 16 cats. We learn a little about Miss Petitfour and her nature. We then get to meet all 16 of her cats by name. Miss Petitfour loves these cats so much, and she knows each one by name. Miss Petifour often takes daily trips into town, and she has an original method of transportation. Before leaving the house Miss Petitfour checks the wind direction, and depending upon the wind, that decides what shops she and her cars will visit. Miss Petitfour has a particular method of flying to these shops, along with all 16 cats! When you read this book you will understand all of the strange methods of travel, and you will get to meet all these cats and the townspeople. This book is separated into several short stories that bring Miss Petifour and her cats into new adventures. The illustrations by Emma Block are original, done in pen drawings. They are colorful and bright. We get to see Miss Petitfour up close and all her cats. Her adventures are very fun and we might say high flying. A wonderful book for all children and their adults.Recommended. prisrob 11-07-15

If you loved Pippi Longstockng, you'll love Miss Petitfour!
The kids and I (ages 7 + 8) absolutely LOVE this book! The text itself is even attractive to look at on each page. Literary elements that are mentioned jokingly are then also written in bold + color so as to be pointedly obvious, which the kids giggle at. The uniquely small size and shape make the book a pleasure to hold, and the kids are drawn to it repeately on their own, just to flip tgrough. The watercolor illustrations are just dazzling! The writing style is direct-to-reader and quirky, like Lemony Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events". The kids laugh their heads off every time we come to a cat list and they hear the one named "Captain Clothespin".This writing style and style feels very much lke Astrid Lindgren's Pippi Longstocking or The Children of Noisy Village. This is definitely a book we will treasure and hand down to my children's children! In a homeschooling household with thousands of books, this is one of our top favorites! It's practically perfect in every way. I recommend it very highly as a homeschooling mom.

A Perfect Famiy Read Aloud
Some one has said this is somewhere between Mrs Piggle-Wiggle and Mary Poppins. I couldn't agree more! It also reminds me of Jamie Lee Curtiss's Big Words for Little People. The intentionality and use and play of words sets a high bar for our next family read aloud. My children love hearing me read it, as it can be quite the tongue-twister at times, and I enjoy reading it, as there are little inside jokes for the more mature reader that hit the same funny bone as The Phantom Tollbooth. Bon Appétit!

Felines, Great Writing, Adventures and The Wind!
A must read for all children's libraries, schools and for those like I who LOVE #ChildrensLit. If you like felines, great stories and pastries that are tied up in great adventures and new characters, it won't let you down. Nor will it let you put IT down! The introduction is by far the best way to experience and anticipate the well written stories within. Not to mention the wind as a major yet quiet character of this book.
