My sponge holder did have a strong chemical smell but I cleaned it out very good with disinfectant wipes a few times and let it sit over night. The smell was gone by morning and I have had no issues with it. Looks so cute on my vanity shelves.

My vanity is in my bedroom, where I also have a fan. So there tends to be dust and I didn't want dust to get into my brushes. ( I put the sponges in so you can see what it looks like ) my clean brushes and sponges go into the containers, and the used ones in the cup as they need cleaned. Highly recommend this ! 😀
