The course of love doesn t always run true. Nagisa may have accepted Tomoya s proposal, but her father, Akio, withholds his permission until Tomoya can meet his terms... and even if that can be achieved, darker clouds are gathering that will shatter their dreams forever, as Nagisa s health begins declining. When what should be a happy moment, turns instead into tragedy, Tomoya s rage and frustration at being unable to do more than be by Nagisa s side leaves him unable to handle the responsibility left to him. But the story is not yet over, and there is still another act to follow. Happiness can still be attained, provided that Tomoya holds onto love, the most precious thing of all. The grand climax, plus several enchanting sidestories, await in the second collection of CLANNAD AFTER STORY.

One of the best anime out there, but these DVDs arent worth the price.
Basically a copy-pasta of my Volume 1 review, since i had essentially the same beef with volume 2:This anime is absolutely one of my all time favorites, i loved every second of it when i watched the fan subs years ago. Unfortunately the company that released the DVDs in the US seems to have given it as a whole no thought whatsoever.First of all there is NO option for English, only Japanese, and 2.0 at that. Don't get me wrong, i almost always prefer Japanese with subtitles. There have been 2 maybe 3 anime ever that i preferred the English language version, Clannad could go either way, the VAs for both languages knocked it out of the park for the first season. What upsets me about this, is the fact that the subtitles are just absolutely TERRIBLE. This day and age subtitles shouldnt take up 1/3 of the screen, in a bright yellow font, with thick black borders, and be so low resolution as to look like they were done on an NES.Then there is the fact that there are no REAL special features on either disc, just clean opening/closings. No artwork, interviews, heck not even any previews. The whole package seems kinda shoddily thrown together, which is absolutely disgraceful for such a masterpiece of story telling and animation. If you see this for 20 bucks at Best Buy or something, go for it, it's worth that much, but the 35 dollar price tag is absolutely ridiculous for this half-assed release. I'd recommend supporting the fan-subbers on this one. The love and care i saw put into the fan sub release when i first saw it was what prompted me to support these DVDs. Had i known the actual quality of the product before i spent money on it i never would have. I genuinely feel ripped off.

One of the Best Anime Shows Just Got Better (Part Two)
Clannad After Story is the second and final season of the anime Clannad, itself based on the visual novel so popular in Japan. The first season of Clannad focused on the main characters in high school. The first few episodes of After Story are set in the final days of school, but the rest of the show focuses primarily on Tomoya and Nagisa after high school, although the other characters do have a part, just not as much as in the first season. This DVD set comes with the second half of After Story; the first part of the show you will have to get seperately as Collection 1. Or you could just by the whole season in one, although when I purchased this the whole After Story collection was not out.You will love this show no matter what kind of shows you usually watch. If you loved Kanon or Air (both done by the same studio that created Clannad) you will especially like it. Be prepared to cry, even more than the first season of Clannad made you.As of now Amazon does have the full After Story Complete Collection available. However, Clannad (first season) is coming out in November on Blu-ray so it is likely that After Story will soon follow so you may want to wait if Blu-ray is that important to you. Then again, it is hard to wait for a show this good. I have DVDs of both seasons and I will buy both seasons in Blu-ray when they come out.

Great adaptation of a great story
This release concludes the CLANNAD story in the North America region. As such, it represents the culmination of everything that the show has been building up to thus far. The issue of Tomoya's view on family, an issue which was brought back into the spotlight at the end of the first After Story collection, is addressed directly, as is the truth behind the nature of the "Illusionary World" which he sees in his dreams. As these are the two most consistent themes throughout the story as a whole, the viewer should expect a powerful, emotional conclusion befitting the title. As an adaptation of Visual Art's/Key's game CLANNAD, the show as a whole has been received quite well. This portion of the story in particular is portrayed similarly to the original in fine detail, while given the spin of powerful directing that this series is known for. Scenes with a memorable setting, such as the beach on a chilly, windy day or a summer's train ride in the countryside, are given colors, sound effects, and musical pieces that compound their emotional effects. Attention to details such as the rate at which sweaty hair slides down a feverish forehead adds a touch of artistry so obvious that even those of us who aren't paying attention are swept away by the beauty. From the perspective of someone who has not had the opportunity to enjoy the CLANNAD bishoujo game, the story alone warrants the purchase a thousand-times over. For those of us who HAVE played the original, there's enough artistic excellence flavoring this adaptation to treasure for many "reruns" to come.

A (Pricey) Masterpiece
It's been a few years since I watched Clannad, and no other anime since then has been able to make me cry. The last few episodes of the series were heart-stealing and made everything else seem feeble compared to its storytelling. Now, it might be a bit expensive, but get the Clannad and Clannad: After Story collections if you ever can. They'll be worth it. :)Also, would recommend Key's other masterpiece, Angel Beats.

Amazing!!!!
Clannad was the first anime I ever watched and I must say it has touched my heart. It made me laugh, made me sob, and even after watching countless other anime series, nothing has been as great as Clannad was for me. Definitely an awesome series and this season of Clannad After Story was my favorite. ^_^

Clannad After Story Part 2
Clannad after Story is so beautiful and one can't help to cry. The only thing I find irritating on this DVD is that there is no Play All Episodes choice on the menu.
