Boot shaft incredibly tight.

If you have narrow feet, you'll love these!
I'm 5'11 and have 15 inch calves and very long legs. These boots are beautiful, nice leather, and have the pefect sized heel. Sadly, they are so tight that I had trouble putting my heel in the boot and I have narrow heels. The toe box is VERY tight and I wear a 10 medium in all shoes. If you have a narrow foot and find pointed shoes (they are rounded, but pointed) comfortable...these are the boots for you. You also need a very long calf. These hit me just under the knee and they were slightly uncomfortable when sitting.

Nice Dress Boots
These boots fit well and have a good heel height. They will be good dress boots. I have a narrow foot and they were neither too narrow nor too wide. I am 6' 1" tall and the shaft was a good length and fit well around the top of the foot and the calf. I didn't experience the fit problems mentioned by other reviewers, and I gave it a good bit of thought before I ordered these. I am glad that I gave them a try.

Calf circumference is too large :(
These are gorgeous boots, and I wanted them to fit so badly. Unfortunately I have slender calves, and these are HUGE at the top. Even with jeans tucked in, there is a huge gap at the top of the boot...it looks awkward. Also the boots came up right to the bottom of my knees; they barely worked. I am 5'8", so I'm not sure how these would work for a more petite girl. So sad to have to send these back.

Do not buy
Leather was cheep and the dye came off in my hands. The zipper would not zip up over my normal size calf. When the boot was on, it bunched up around my ankle. Not what I would expect at all from Cole Haan! I do not recommend buying!

too tall, too wide, too gorgeous
The boots are absolutely gorgeous. The shoe fits true to size, a bit tight in the toe box in M width. There is no padding or arch support, causing pain when walking in the high heel. However I found some slim orthotics for high heels that help a lot. As with some other reviewers, my biggest problem is that the shaft height is way too tall. I'm 5'3" with proportionate legs, and the boots reach all the way to my knee. When I sit, they cut into the flesh over my knees. The calf circumference is huge, leaving at least 2" of open space around my calf. I love these boots so much that I took them to a cobbler who said he can cut down the height and reduce the circumference, and you wouldn't be able to tell they'd been altered. He has a great reputation and will only charge $30.00 per pair (I have the black and the brown) so I think I'm going to risk it.

Fab boot at a great deal!
I love these Cole Haan Carlyle boots. My first pair I bought a year plus ago on clearance from a major department store. I bought this pair which is a different color because I loved them so much. Comfortable and look great with everything. Fits perfectly. Highly recommend.
