The new best value pen for your Surface
I’ve used a standard Raphael 520 pen since shortly after getting my first Surface. I’ve always been impressed with the writing quality, weight, and feel, especially for the price. This new Bluetooth version is everything good about that pen and more. They are both nearly identical in size and weight. The side button on the 520BT is a little bit less recessed. So it’s easier to press the erase and right click buttons, which I definitely appreciate. The pen is light and comfortable to hold. It writes well and has tilt support. The magnet holds it strongly to the side of the surface no problem. And I really really like that you don’t have to worry about weird sized AAAA batteries or anything. Just occasionally charge the built-in battery. As far as the new stuff:There’s the magnetic attaching charging cap. It goes on with a satisfying snap in place. And It’s USB-C thank goodness! So I can use the same charger for this, the surface go, my phone, and other devices. I can’t wait for everything to finally use USB-C. It’s the future! And the Bluetooth support is a real welcome addition. It works as expected, just hold down the top button for seven seconds to put it in pairing mode and connect it to your computer. Then you can set the button to launch whatever programs. It’ll also do things like change the slide PowerPoint. Sometimes the button goes to sleep too quickly. I wish it stayed awake a little bit longer. But just press it once to wake up and use it again. As for unsupported apps, I am using a program called AutoHotkey. This lets you use the new button presses to do lots of stuff. The button is detected as the F20-F18 Keys.Single Click = F20Double Click = F19Hold = F18I like to remap the button presses to various keys like Space, ESC, Tab, Enter, etc. It’s really nice for older programs where you can click and drag with a pen, but they still expect a keyboard for some functions (To bring up the menu, pause, etc.). I’ve been using it a lot in tablet mode to play games like FTL. It’s also good to change pictures in my picture gallery app, or change tracks in a song. Just use AutoHotkey to take the Bluetooth button press and send whatever keyboard key your program expects. It’s a really nice benefit over pens without Bluetooth support.

Powerful and affordable pen for all Surface users
I really like this product. This is actually my second RENAISSER product. The older version of their surface pen works so well so I decided to upgrade it!My picture features a great aesthetic design of the pen. The previous version has a charging port on the end of the pen but this new one removes it. It’s now a button to control several apps via Bluetooth. By looking at it, it’s just more classic and I really like this design. The Bluetooth connection is the new function in this product. The pairing with my surface is simple and easy. It can control several apps but I really like the slide show control. By clicking the button it will advance one slide and by holding the button it will go back to the previous slide. It is of a great convenience that I don’t need to stay around my laptop all the time. The basic function as a surface pen is also powerful! It can feel my pressure of writing, even the tilting! I personally am not a artist but I bet those who draw on the computer would love it. As a pen, I think its balance between the weight and the convenience is just at the right spot. It is heavy enough to make you feel like you’re holding a real pen but it’s not too heavy that you don’t want to carry it around. Of course it has magnet which can hold the pen to the side of my surface pro 7.I really like this new pen and both of RENAISSER’s products. Compared to the expensive original Surface Pen, I think this pen is much more powerful and affordable. I would recommend this pen to every single surface user!

Raphael 520BT - Fantastic pen! Be attentive of charging cap.
The Raphael 520BT is a pen worth looking at. It takes everything that the Raphael 520 did right, while adding Bluetooth functionality - and it feels good. It is both convenient and effective with the implementation. Even though it exemplifies all of its previous model's functionality and adds a new feature, it pains me to say that the implementation could have been done better. First, let's talk about what it does right. The '520BT has fantastic application when using it for writing or drawing. With the correct setup and software, you can enjoy applying heavy to light pressure to add depth and details to your drawings and penmanship. In your hand, the pen feels light and feels sturdy while looking professional. Its battery is worth mentioning, since you can charge it quickly and forget about charging it for a while. Like the previous model, the side buttons feel the same and you can change their shortcuts in the Windows 10 pen settings (different clicks have different preset options). What separates this pen from its predecessor, is the addition of Bluetooth and its charging cap.Single click, double click, single click and hold: these are ways for how you can use the Bluetooth button at the end of the pen. It is nice that while browsing a website or in the middle of a project, you can easily click the end of the pen to take notes or snip a reference image. If you happen to have access to Office 365, PowerPoint is a dream while building slideshows or using presentation mode. While creating slides, the software automatically recognizes the pen and you can write or draw on the slide. In presentation mode, you can annotate what you are speaking about on the slide that's live (notes that you made can be saved later at the end of your presentation), while the button at the end can conveniently navigate to next and previous slides. If you used this pen for teaching or business, I can see how this could be an attractive feature of the pen. With all the good having been said, let's get to what leaves you wanting…Although minor, the battery has a slightly lower charging speed and usage time. I suspect it takes longer to charge, assuming the charging current goes through the Bluetooth mechanism. I'm sure it is safe, but I didn't like the concept of clicking the Bluetooth button, with it having the part you click made of metal - you charge the pen by magnetically attaching it over the end. There is a very satisfying click for how the magnet attaches the cap to the end of the pen. Make sure to let the magnet do the work, no need to push it on like a regular pen.The greatest concern of the Raphael 520BT, is the cap. If you lose the cap, you lose the ability to charge your pen. I sadly consider this a huge design oversight. In a world where we have more and more things to keep track of, I am of the opinion that I would feel very foolish if I lost the pen charging cap. Also, make sure you don't put the cap on the tip, like a traditional pen – you will risk damaging it. I would have preferred a charging method like the previous model, or a charging port on the side. I think I understand why they chose the cap over a side or end port. It was likely to prevent damaging the port by clicking it, if they had kept their previous design. This is a fantastic pen. The Bluetooth functionality is a great addition.I highly recommend this pen, as long as you are sure you can keep track of the pen cap.
