I bought this iron at Harbor freight tools for $3. It does not heat up enough to melt solder especially the lead free one which is used everywhere nowadays. Don't buy it.

Good for welding plastic (for the cost)
I bought this at harbor freight for $3. I used it for welding plastic and it did the job better than I would've expected for the cost. If your using it to solder, I probably wouldn't recommend it, but for a one time job it does the trick.

JUNK
Junk soldering iron. The tip disintegrated after 30 minutes of use. This is the iron they sell at Harbor Freight. I bought another one for $3 with a coupon and the tip dissolved the same way
