The Day of the Dead: A Pictorial Archive of Dia de Los Muertos (Dover Pictorial Archive) Paperback – September 16, 2010

Fantastic collection of royalty-free, authentic Day of the Dead themed images, in a beautiful quality soft bound book. I love Dover published books due to the superb selection, price & quality.This book is incredible, much better than I was expecting. My only issue is, many of the beautiful, slightly glossy pages have colored (orange, blue, pink, green...) & textured backgrounds (like antiquing; the cover shows a good example of the inside pages) instead of plain white, making scanning & printing of the images directly from the book pages difficult, unlike older Dover books (I bought this for use in black & white collages so I really need the images to have a flat white background). It does make up for this by including a CD ROM in TIFF & JPEG formats (the images are full size, uncropped, in black & white on CD ROM). The CD ROM also includes "Dover Design Manager, a simple graphics editing program for Windows that will allow you to view, print, crop, and rotate the images". Not sure how well this will work on a Mac, but I guess I'll find out (my tech skills are minimal at best).If you want a groovy coffee table book, with slick glossy pages, this fits the bill. If you want a clip art/royalty-free/scan-&-print image source, the book doesn't quite fit, but the CD ROM will help.For the price, & the outstanding images, I'll keep it, though it's not quite what I'd expected. Maybe I'll find I really like the CD ROM Dover Design Manager, looking forward to experimenting.

Great book for someone interested in day of the dead art.Also comes with a pictorial cdr of the book images. Unfortunately the book got pretty beat up during shipping. The front & back covers are dog eared but the pages themselves are perfect.The person I got it for insists it’s ok and does not want it returned. If it wasn’t so close to the holiday I would have returned it!

Not what I expected in a book that should have history and commentary on the art work. Great visuals and nice pictures, No descriptions. I was disappointed and returned it.

I was very pleased with my book and was excited to get the CD-Rom with extra images. My CD-Rom was defective and I notified the publisher (Dover) and they bent over backwards to make sure I was pleased. I would highly recommend this book and anything published by Dover as they really want to make sure the customer is satisfied.

This book is a great value for anyone who appreciates the art of Dia de los Muertos. Virtually every woodcut by José Guadalupe Posada associated with Dia de los Muertos is included in this book. Other artists are included. All work is in black and white, but so were most of the originals. The biggest bonus is the included CD-ROM with 187 royalty-free images! At less than $14, you can't go wrong!

I love Day of the Dead art, and this is a home run. The included CD-ROM made it easy for me to make myself a few tees with the pictures I like best.

I really enjoy these motifs, for use in meny nice layouts like invitationcards etc.

Si poteva fare di meglio, l'mpaginazione risulta un poco curata,quasi da libro da bambini a basso costo, alcune immagini sono "spezzate" dalla rilegatura centrale, altre sono utilizzate a piacere dall'autore senza che se ne rispettino le proporzioni.La presenza del cd e il fatto che in Italia manca un prodotto simile sollevano il voto generale.
