Who's fault is it?
My cat loves this thing. She loves to drink from the spout licking the water in mid-air.Don't know if it's my cats fault or the fountains but I have a rubber mat under the fountain and it's soaked.I'm going to return it and try the Drinkwell model were the spout comes out the middle and not on the side. Total godsend even if you do need to clean filter!
1: My kitten (4 months old) tends to ignore all water in water bowl, unless poured fresh then and there.2:She splashes ALL that water on the floor when using traditional water bowl (even worse than what she does with this)3:Insisted on drinking from sink taps/bath taps etc which is not nice for her OR for us.4:Did a load of research of what type of fountain to get, pros V cons and decided on this one.Pro: Easy to fill (make sure you fill BOTH the well AND the water store before turning on) long cord, fresh water, prevents pets from using other water sources and yet still allows some water play time as well. They also get to choose to drink from the spout OR the well. Don't have to worry about lack of fresh drinking water, especially on hot days when you are out.I re fill my fountain every 2 days with fresh water so it takes the chore out of daily water changes too! It's easy to clean, takes 5 minutes!Con: Pet may still splash about as they can with any water filled bowl so might want to put down a tray or little mat. This is to be expected.Does need to be cleaned HOWEVER this VS the PROS as above make it worth while.Hard water might be a problem unless you clean every week OR use already filtered water.(I use a filter water jug for myself so just use this to fill the fountain rather than tap water)This cuts down on build up on the pump. I only clean mine every 2-3 weeks and it's fine. Any issue we had came from my curly hair somehow getting into pump housing!?Slight noisy from it, when water falls below the pre filter line so be aware of that. We have this in our living room and it doesn't interfere with tv or reading unless it's time for a top up.Conclusion? BEST buy, Very happy! Doesn't take up too much space or look too ugly in the room. Only need a small one like this IF you only have a smaller pet or 1 pet. Would recommend!

Water play for kittens
I bought this for my kitten, who is confined to a pen with a broken leg. It's easy to set up and fill, and comes with a reasonable length lead AND A 3-PIN PLUG. The operating noise is barely noticeable until it needs re-filling. It's fairly sturdy and easy to clean, and doesn't take up too much space. And the filters can even be composted once they're used up.The kitten loves it - playing with the water spout from every angle keeps her amused for hours. And I don't have to worry that her water bowl is being tipped over the floor, or filled with cat litter. My other two cats have been watching with interest, and I think she'll have some competition for it once she's back in general population. My only real gripe is that I've had to put a towel under it, as naughty kitty slops so much water over the side while playing, and gets her bedding wet! I'm hoping that will become less of an issue as the novelty wears off.Verdict: not purrfect, but still a good value-for-money buy.

Excellent water fountain
After careful consideration I chose this water fountain for my two cats. I was a little unsure as to whether either of them would actually use it, as one likes to drink from puddles and the other prefers a running tap! However, to my surprise and delight, they both drink from this. The fountain itself is quite small, doesn't take up much space on my worktop, and so far have had no problem with spills. The unit is a little noisy, but no more so than a fishtank, so not a problem for me, and it doesn't bother the cats either! It runs more quietly if the water level is kept topped up.I would've given it 5 stars, but for the fact that my daughter said it looked a bit like a urinal. But hey, you can't have everything, and so long as my cats use it, I'm happy!

Mixed feelings
Overall good value, the cat is now used to it and the noise it makes is adjustable. Getting it apart to clean thoroughly however takes a bit of force so I tend not to do it as often as required, then I can feel it getting a bit slimey for want of a better description with it being all plasticky before guiltily getting to work on it. Also it's supposed to be slimline yet takes up just the same amount of space, if not more, than the last one we had which was the Catit. I wouldn't buy another if it stopped working.

My cat loves this!!
I bought this unit as our cat has previously suffered from urinary crystals and is not a great drinker (will only usually drink from our drinking glasses!!) It arrived today and I set up as per the instructions and switched on. There is a low level of noise but it does have a motor in it afterall so it wouldn't be completely silent - the noise certainly isn't intrusive. When Jeremy came in a few minutes later he went straight over to it, had a sniff or to and then immediately started drinking!! He loves the fountain and I've never seen him drink so much (he's already been back for another drink) - he is also quite a jumpy cat and spooks easily but wasn't scared by the fountain at all. Granted we've only had the unit running for about 1hr so I can't comment on its long term performance but I'd definitely recommend on our experience so far.
