Didn't hatch devastated 8 year old. Upset Christmas Day.

[Sigh] It took me a year before I succumbed to my daughter's desire for one of these critters. It's now been 6 months.First impressions and Customer Service: Hatching entranced both my daughter and even my older sons. Unfortunately after hatched, the hatchimal proved defective. Customer Service was great to deal with. Very friendly and had very clear instructions for managing a return. The down side, was that the process took weeks which was a real downer for my daughter. Despite friendliness, there wasn't a real effort to expedite the process.First Impressions Part 2: All of my children were entranced by this toy for the first 2 hours of use. At the end of those 2 hours, a few things became apparent. 1) This toy progresses through its stages far too fast. Even for my six year old.Ongoing Play: Honestly, this was very disappointing. After months of buildup, this toy literally got 2 days of play. My daughter then found it far too repetitive to keep her attention. As a doll or "stuffie" its not shaped right and she preferred her others. As an interactive toy, there just wasn't much to offer. As I said, too repetitive. Even resetting stage didn't regain her interest.All in all for the price, I can't recommend this product. Try to resist the hype and put your money elsewhere.

Mon enfant a joué avec cela 2-3 jours. C'est sûr que le déballage du cadeau et l'éclosion de l'oeuf (quelques minutes seulement) ont été des instants merveilleux pour mon enfant, mais par la suite il s'est vite lassé de faire faire des petites activités très limitées à son Hatchimal. Après une semaine, il n'en parlait déjà plus. En plus, c'est un toutou qui est dur et pas vraiment doux. Mon enfant n'a jamais voulu dormir avec lui ni vraiment jouer comme il le fait beaucoup avec tous ses toutous TY (qui coûtent 10 fois moins cher)! Si vous voulez payer 70-80$ pour émerveiller 30 minutes votre enfant, c'est un bon choix... sinon, je ne recommande pas du tout! Très mauvais investissement dans notre cas!

Once hatched, it grows through three more phases, learning more complicated tasks as it goes.Cuter than the original Furby, and won’t die in a pile of its own droppings like the Tamagotchi, Hatchimals have the benefit of being able to be reset back to its baby stage at any point so the growing can happen all over again. The hatching only happens once though, so be sure to enjoy it while it lasts.

This toy has made a huge impact on my grand daughter and her siblings last Christmas. I watched how this toy has excited my three grandkids and that excited me as well as and my son and his wife. My son videotaped the whole hatching process. It was made in Canada and as a Canadian, it makes me feel proud. I’ll definitely buy this toy again from Amazon.ca!
