Pinpoint accuracy to 1000 ft!
I just received the TruPoint 300 this week so I am still learning the device and getting familiar with how it operates. Right out of the gate though, I am seriously impressed with the accuracy, and especially in aiming at the one exact point you want to measure, with both a red laser dot or 4x zoom using integrated camera. The precision is just amazing and I would call it an instrument not a tool. I am used to using a wheel or shooting a line, and the integrated calculations this device provides... well it's just fantastic how easy measuring is now, and I am realizing more uses I will have for it.So, overall, my first impressions are very good, and in the next few weeks I will come back and add more details once I get experience with the instrument.UPDATE: Well after a few months of use. Here are my observations:1. The interface is a little klugey and takes practice to get familiar with. Not as intuitive as an Iphone.2. They software takes even more practice to be proficient, and before you intend to use this with software. If you intended to use GPS based locations, confirm your hardware device has NATIVE GPS support and not interpolated. (download a GPS app and see if it shows you satellite locations, if not then it is using WIFI to guess at GPS location, not real GPS)3. Do not buy this if you are trying to use it as a Total Station, or even just for lot line survey. The MAPSmart Software used for surveying is treated like an afterthought. Just to test MAPsmart took me weeks of going back and forth with Laser Tech (the MFG) to get a working demo. ( Initially they suggested I just by MAPsmart, even though the SW costs $700 or twice what the device costs). I even ended up on the phone with the SW developer which is a separate company and they indicated the MFG was not fully supporting the software, so confirm before you buy. Or just get a thodolite and be done.4. You don't have to buy the expensive gimble axis from laser tech. Lecia sells the same thing and you can just buy the adapter place for half the price. (or 3d print your own adapter like I did.)
